Belem Hostel
We are a Hostel in Belém of Pará, the city of mangos, opened since september of 2014, so we are quite new.
Belém is a city of almost 400 years old where you can live the nature of Amazon and the moderniti of a big city.
We are located nearby of nightclubs, the mains sight, Estação das Docas, Teatro da da Paz, Ver-o-peso market and goods reastaurants.
So, you can know the Jungle and use the infraestructure of an amazing city.

We are two brothers who running and live in the Hostel with our parents, so we ask for someone who like to stay with our family.
We always do whatever is possible to all our guest be very welcome.

My experience at BBelém Hostel was very smooth, with simple cleaning tasks and organizing the rooms; I could also help with artwork for social media. The manager Jonathan is a real partner, he explains everything that needs to be done and will help you whenever you need. Dona Rai is also a very nice person; my experience was excellent, but before me two volunteers were invited to leave... ask all your questions, ask everything you will have to do, and keep to what was agreed and you won't have any problems. Belém is an amazing city and the hostel is very well located, I highly recommend it.

My experience at Belém Hostel was inhospitable. The management is disorganized and there is a lack of empathy and respect in the treatment of volunteers. I was moved to several beds, and another volunteer and I had to sleep in the landlady's house because our beds were sold. We had to attend to guests after 11:00 p.m. After almost three weeks, I was asked to leave due to a 15-minute delay, notified hours in advance, without warning and with only 24 hours to leave the hostel. This hostel is not a safe or advisable place for travelers seeking a positive volunteer experience in Belém.

Think carefully before accepting this volunteer position. My experience was marked by pressure, insecurity, and changes to the agreed conditions. The worst part: our beds were sold. Instead of the situation being treated as a problem, we were told that we should be grateful to be able to sleep at her house, while it was said that the former volunteer would sleep even on the sofa, if necessary. There were also threats of eviction and the fear of going through the same thing as another volunteer. I carried out my duties and I have messages to prove everything. I do not recommend it: confirm where you will sleep and under what conditions before accepting. Run away!

It was wonderful to volunteer at Belém Hostel. I can say it was my first home in Belém <3
André and Dona Rai are great people and welcomed me during the time I was doing the exchange.
André is a true cultural producer for anyone who wants to experience the roots of Pará culture; I recommend diving into the experience.
The work was easy and the environment is very welcoming, enjoy!
