Canto dos artistas

We're located in a very artistic place! Many artistic houses, beautiful beaches, in a very old city! Universidade Federal de Pernambuco have uncovered new evidence of the pre-colonial population of the area. The settlement of Olinda was founded in 1535.
Besides its natural beauty, Olinda is also one of the most important of Brazil's cultural centers. Declared in 1982 a Historical and Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by the UNESCO, Olinda relives the magnificence of the past every year during the Carnival, in the rhythm of frevo, maracatu and others rhythms

We have a very pleasant atmosphere to work with. A cozy place! It's pretty more a home hostel! We're 4 people working in two hostels (Canto dos Artistas/ e Cantos dos Artistas 2).
My name is Angela, married with a teenager son. I have many friends in the city. I'm a extroverted and happy person! Friends are like family to me!
I have a very good relationship with my staff! Pretty much more a friend than a boss!

It's so good when we find the sense of home in volunteering, and the hostel was like that for me; I was supposed to stay for 1 month, and I ended up staying 2. The hosts (Ângela and Lucas) and Neide, who works at the hostel, became a family to me. I was very well received and very loved. I will definitely come back. I have nothing to complain about, just to say thank you and that it left me with a taste of wanting more!

My experience was okay up to the moment I stayed. Schedules were respected, the shift was very calm, you almost do nothing! However I ended the exchange well before the end, because I needed to work and the agreed schedules weren’t so compatible with my work commitments. The host welcomed my moment and was very understanding, supported me when I left, and I was very happy that there was another volunteer to avoid leaving her out of pocket. I appreciate the opportunity and wish incredible opportunities for the upcoming seasons 😊

A very welcoming place and great people to work with. I met Neide, who is such a sweetheart. I also met the hosts Angela and Lucca, who are very cheerful as well. The breakfast is very good, with a wide variety of options. I slept in the shared room with air conditioning. The work schedule and days off are respected.

The hostel is a very calm hostel with new guests from various places in the world, a good way to practice the language. I met people from France, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Portugal and Korea. I was welcomed by Neide and then I met the hosts Lucca and Angela, really nice people and calm. The service is calm, just receiving the guests and doing their check-in, sometimes drying the bathroom when it gets wet. Breakfast is included, which is excellent by the way! The room is shared with air conditioning. The location is very good for you to get to know Olinda!

The hostel is on one of Olinda's main streets, close to all the sights, and even after Carnival there were a few street parades that passed by in front of the hostel. The hostel has a great breakfast and the tasks are very simple, only reception work. The host and the staff are very kind and welcoming. Olinda is wonderful, pure culture!! I will definitely be back <3
