DH HOSTEL
We are a well established hostel of good reputation that is found right in the heart of Palermo.
We have extensive experience in hosting both guests and volunteers.
During your stay here you will be able to meet many travellers from all over the world, as well as taste the authentic local life.
We are right in the center, next to the ancient famous market of Ballaro. The main market of the city.
We have a 4 bed private staff room with on suite bathroom, as well as seperate bathroom option. We have ventilators and no ac.
Our philosophy is do the right things and do them because they are correct. Not because you are looking for something in return. We have a proud reputation here in Palermo for this, and many satisfied customers.
We hope every volunteer will meet new friends and bring their own small touch to our place.

Not recommend!! My experience with the volunteer manager Marco, was extremely uncomfortable. Other volunteers had warned me. When I was doing the laundry Marco stood directly behind me and commented on my clothing. I felt extremely uncomfortable and was concerned he may have been looking up my skirt. He talks down to women volunteers in a patronising way. I asked him to talk to me with respect, he became defensive. Before I left, Marco came to the hostel room with no warning to intimidate me, I had just finished changing, I was not the only volunteer who decided to leave that day.

Nobody else decided to leave the same day or ever...and absolutely nobody was looking up your skirt, or anywhere near your skirt! The only ounce of truth and comment regarding clothing was to say that she was not wearing staff uniform.
Absurd and defamatory comments not fit even for dignifying with response. Totally not right in the head and victim card accusations extravaganza.

Host was kind, but living conditions were not as advertised. No air conditioning (which in Palermo summer is unbearable), poor beds, bugs in the room, and broken shower. None of this was shown or noted in the volunteer advertisement, and in fact the pictures shown on the advertisement were of very nice rooms, completely different from the one I was given. We tried to work with the host to come to a compromise, but unfortunately I did have to leave early due to these circumstances. The work itself was easy and left a lot of free time, however.

A little unnecessary and over the top. The photos are of the hostel and do not have the available linked attachment of 'volunteers rooms'. Nor do we state ac available. You assumed and also told us this when you were here. You should really check, it is not our job to tell you if we do not advertise it. It is not a given right, it is a luxury or option, as many dont even like it.
By bugs you mean a cockroach, yes that can happen with a garden. Shower handle we fixed.

I had an amazing time here at double h hostel, the experience was great. I had so much time to explore Palermo which was perfect. The tasks were very easy to follow and not difficult at all. I would highly recommend coming to volunteer here the experience was amazing!

I had so much fun at the guest house, so much so I decided to extend my stay! The tasks and hours are very simple and fair, you definitely have enough time to explore Palermo! The room is clean and so is the bathroom, I would definitely recommend this experience!
