EcoSardinal Organic Farm

You will live and collaborate from an isolated, off-grid, organic and beautiful place, out of the crowd and offering you a unique experience. You will live alone or with other volunteers in the guest's house, a place built totally with recycled materials, off-grid and looking to be sustainable. See all info on my website: https://www.ecosardinal.org/ where you can learn everything about this place and our conditions. Hope to see you soon learning and sharing with us!

I am a traveller for many years now. I work as a professor at the second most prominent university in Costa Rica, and actually, I live on my farm or travel there frequently. My parents come and go anytime on the farm. They live in the nearest village, Sardinal, where you can find supermarkets, food, etc. They only speak Spanish. For you, is useful to speak Spanish. In this way, you will get more of the local wisdom and can understand many things, but if you don´t, you are still welcome to try the challenge (You will not be the first one).

I loved my time on Eddy’s farm! He and his family and friends are super kind, welcoming and generous. And the place is truly breathtaking, pictures cannot fully capture how beautiful the mountains are. As I was there during the dry season I did mostly maintenance work around the huts and plants (from 7am to 11/12am). I will say that the place is not the easiest to find (especially if you don’t speak Spanish), you should be flexible in your needs (hygiene/food wise) and fine living among bugs (bed bugs, ticks, mosquitos). Then you will have the experience of a life time!

I had an amazing experience staying at the beautiful and peaceful ecosardinal! Eddy was an extremely kind and welcoming host and made me feel very comfortable at his place. I enjoyed helping in the farm, specifically harvesting beans and corn and then cooking them over the wood fire stove. While harvesting beans, I had many great conversations with eddy’s father, Miguel about his work on their farm and his philosophy about life.
I also felt very lucky to connect with neighbors, animals, and meet the some of the community. Overall great experience!! PLEASE GO

Eco Sardinal Farm is such a special place! Located in the hills of Sardinal, this place is perfect for connecting to the environment & learning about your impact. It is totally off-grid, and I think it's important that you prepare yourself physically and mentally for that. Bring plenty of power banks and a solar charger if it's important that you stay connected. If you're visiting during the dry season be prepared that there won't be showers and the work will be less like farm work and more like handyman work. Eddy and his partner were so incredibly kind and their animals were so cute

It was my first time volunteering in Worldpackers, it was an incredible & unforgettable experience. Eddy is a very happy human with a good heart and really nice stories. I really like the energy he creates in the farm. The farm is situated proper on top of a mountain, on one side you have a view of the mountains and the other side is the sea — it’s really the most beautiful places in the world, and each night you’re able to be gifted with the most beautiful sunset you have seen.
