Erna's Eco Farm
As a volunteer with me, you will quickly become part of the family and our community! We live in a small town in North Sumatra, where everybody is super friendly and Will want to get to know you!
During your stay, you will live like a local, realising the importance of a strong community. Specifically, my focus is on sustainable agriculture and waste management, which is a major problem worldwide!
There are many activities for you to try while here, including maintaining my eco-garden by building raised beds, planting and harvesting crops! As well as this, I run a cooking class, so your help will be needed with the preparation!
I live with my husband and 2 children, who are all very kind, and will ensure you are happy during you stay!
I will provide 3 meals a day for you to help keep your energy high!!

Amazing. I have no words to describe how much I loved the weeks I spent there. Erna is kind, calm, flexible, wise. I could learn about the country, the food, the nature. I could relax, see a lot of different animals, amazing landscapes, she helped me and taught me so much. It was exactly what I needed, chiil, relax and disconnect. Erna and her husband and the kids Iqbal and Alia are amazing, fun and reliable. The internet and power are unstable sometimes because of the rain, but I will be back again asap because I feel like I have an Indonesian family now. Terima kasih, Erna, see you soon! <3

Erna is the sweetest host. Since he beginning she was really flexible, the tasks are fun and I didn't feel that I was working, but learning and playing - with her the guests, the kids. The internet is down sometimes but this is not her fault, so I had to reschedule some classes with my students. I am still here and I absolutely recomend it, it was my best experience so far! I feel like I am part of the family already 🌺😌🙏

La experiencia con Erna fue muy enriquecedora, me abrió las puertas de su comunidad y conocí a sus amigos y familiares. Confianza total en su criterio al elegir las actividades y me aconsejó muy bien sobre las excursiones en la isla de Sumatra. Erna es una anfitriona y una cocinera increible, probé comida tradicional deliciosa y me encantó conocer el ritmo de vida relajada de la zona montañosa de Bukit Lawang fué un intercambio cultural muy enriquecedor. 100% recomendado. J'étais en train d'écrire un roman pour vous expliquer pourquoi je recommande cette expérience mais il a une limite à la taille du texte… c'était mon premier worldpacker et j'ai passé parmis les 3 semaines les plus incroyables de ma vie, Erna est comme une deuxième maman pour moi, elle est exceptionnellement gentille et attentionnée, si vous voulez essayer la vrai vie locale de Sumatra, n'hésitez pas une seule seconde. J'ai adoré le travail qui etait un ensemble d'activités qui m'ont beaucoup appris! MERCI ERNA ❤️❤️😁

Erna est tout simplement une femme incroyable qui rend à son échelle le monde meilleur. Elle est très inspirante, on est vraiment heureux de l'avoir rencontré. On devait rester 5 jours… évidemment qu'on a prolongé pour rester un peu plus. Sa maison est à 10 minutes de Bukit Lawang au milieu des rizières et de ses jardins, où on a pu l'aider à récolter du café, du cacao, des fruits, légumes et même du riz. Mais surtout, on a énormément rigolé. Erna est solaire, très souriante et vraiment drôle. Merci pour tout Erna et à bientôt 🫶
