Ferrinandah Children's Organisation

When you volunteer with us you will experience a typical life in a small village of Kyabirwa near Bujagali village in Jinja Uganda Africa , where the weatheris the most beautiful. You will learn new language, taste new food (we have the best fruits of all Africa) and have a wonderful time on the border of the Nile River ! 🌞 As well you will meet new local people. And lastly, teach us your skills and sophistications so we can have many takeaways. We look forward to your application.

My name is Joseph Kasubi. I am 24 years old who was born in Main Street West in Jinja municipality, but currently residing in Kyabirwa Bujagali village and I am the CEO of Ferrinandha children's Foundation in Uganda. We are a registered project in Kyabirwa -Bujagali village in Jinja (Uganda). I have put my heart, my sweat and my strength in this project for the last 4 years.

Even though we've come a long way,we still have a long path to go and we are always looking for volunteers to help out at our center! There is a lot for us to do and a lot of improvements we want to make. I have many dreams and goals for our organisation and I would be very pleased to receive help to make them all happen.

We have a staff of 10 members where by five are male and 5 are female.

ACCOMODATION
If travellers want to, they can stay in our house in a small room with everything you need: bed, shower, fridge, even a small tv.

Ferrinadah childrens home requires a cost of $12 USD depending on the location of the volunteers per day to cover costs of food, utilities and accommodation while staying at the foundation.

We provide breakfast (around 8am), lunch (around 1pm) and dinner (around 7.30 or 8 pm) for our volunteers. Dinner is usually served when the kids return from school. The meals that we serve consists of different types of typical Ugandan food, such as chapatis, eggs, rolex, posho, matooke (green bananas), sweet potatoes, beans, sauces, ground-nut sauce, peas and cabbage. After dinner we sometimes make a camp-fire where we sit to enjoy, sometimes we tell stories or make traditional music.

A 5 minute walk away from our organisation is a small center with some local restaurants and little shops. Here you can also find the camp-sites, where they serve more Western things as burgers and fries. Also, you can find many people all over the world having the most of Uganda. We arrange airport pick-ups and drop-offs. It is a 4 hour drive from Entebbe to Bujagali(Pay attention: the cost for the pickup from the airport is $100 USD)

WEEKENDS AND FREE TIME
Volunteers are always free on the weekends and there are many things to do around Bujagali. Our village is placed right by the River Nile and close to the city Jinja, which is easy to reach in a shared taxi or on the boda-boda (motorbike-taxi). That is a 20 minute ride. Jinja is a very nice city and has a market, cafés, ATM's and little shops.

Just a 5 minute walk from our place there are a few camp-sites, where you can always go to relax. They also have wifi and bars.

Besides that I will always be happy to help you arrange some activities for a good price. Activities that you can do is kayaking, rafting, tubing, boat trip, sunset-cruise on the river and many other things. I can also be helpful to arrange for you to go Gorilla trekking or to go on a safari in one of the beautiful national parks of Uganda.

If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering with us, please don't hesitate to contact us.

The best experience of my life. Being able to work hand in hand with the children who live in their home has helped me value things much more and to want to surpass myself more and more. Meeting these children has been the best gift in the world

Joseph and their team has been as family for me there. I felt welcome since the very beginning, I felt like in home. Joseph is passionate about the project, he and the team have a lot of plans in mind to improve their home and childs lifes. They take care of the childrens incredibly and you can see that there is love around. Tasks to be done are easy, flexible and adaptable to your needs. You can always discuss with them if you are not comfortable with something, or if there is anything else you want to do. The village is a nice, beautiful place with some things to enjoy around.
