Fundación Amigos del Mar

We invite you to spend time helping children and young people become more skilled and prepared for tomorrow. Come to Tierra Bomba, you will live on an island where there are many needs and a different reality, but you will find joy, knowledge exchange, and new ways to relate to others.

We are a team that operates with open, horizontal communication; we are receptive to new ideas, we live in a community, and our main pillar is sharing.

What Pedro does for the children and the island is incredible. Dive into a world that you rarely see. Learn to use water sparingly, to repurpose 'garbage' into beautiful new things, and accompany the children in their everyday life on the island. The workshops, which I was able to co-lead in part, were always filled with fun and joy, but also real learning inputs. The children truly grow on you, but the experience is not without its challenges! Personally, I became aware of how privileged my life is and how grateful I am for everything I have. Thank you!

I could not recommend this experience more. It's hard work but the most gratifying work—and the relationships you build with the kids on Tierra Bomba make it all worth it. I plan on coming back and volunteering for an even longer time in the future. Accommodations were quite nice too—we had wifi, running water for showers, and a well-run community-style cooking schedule.

This was one of the most profound experiences I've had in a while. Pedro has done so much for these communities and continues to make such a big impact on the island. You will fall in love with everything about Tierra Bomba.

It is difficult for me to find the words to describe this experience. It was very enriching and beautiful to be able to help the Tierra Bomba children with the workshops, surfing, but also to do the chores or play with them. It is a trip that makes you put so many things into perspective as the issue of water, recycling and sharing. I also was with an incredible team of volunteers and they helped me have an incredible experience. Thanks also to Pedro, Freja and Gloria for their help and their availability. I wish the project all the best for the future.

The project was a truly eye opening experience, and something i will think back on for a lifetime- the children while at times very chaotic had SO much love and joy to give, and being even just a small part of their lives and their education or painting or playing at the beach with them during free time was inspiring in ways hard to describe. Pedro truly has been changing lives for the better for 15 years, and you can see the island changing for the better because of it. Would reccommend to anyone wanting to learn true gratuity, and help with real change- would love to come back one day💜
