Fundación Purex Galápagos

Purex Fundacion is a locally run and managed NGO focusing on conservation and socially impactful projects. We provide volunteers with an opportunity to experience a different side of the islands, engage with local people and projects, the wildlife and unique ecosystem as well as a way to contribute to the ongoing sustainability and conservation of the islands and its communities. Volunteers can make the most of their time here on San Cristobal exploring the beaches and snorkelling spots as well as exploring the other islands. We supply volunteer visas to everyone on our projects enabling them to come to the islands without paying the usual tourist fee ($100/$200 from August)

Our founder Ariel Garcia set up the NGO in 2018 offering a unique gateway for travellers to experience the Galapagos while actively contributing to the local environment. We are a friendly organisation made up of islanders and volunteers from around the world. We work together collaboratively and learn from one another. We want to help volunteers understand the issues of the islands and why they are working on certain activities as well as exchange culture and ideas to make our work even more impactful.
