We are located in a very quiet neighborhood, next to public transportation with easy access to all the hot points in the city. The house is big and cozy, with a lovely yard filled with flowers. We also have an air conditioner in all the dormitories, a living room with TV, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 big lunchrooms and an external area to relax and chill.
Run by a family, we treat our guests as one of us. So what you can expect is a warm and hospitable atmosphere as if you were at home. The team consists of 3 receptionists (one for each shift), one of the owners helps in the reception and the other works in the administration, as well as a person who manages the social media.

The family are polite, schedules are reasonable and flexible. The house is stunning, rooms are comfortable and common areas clean & spacious, BUT it's far from everything.
I applied for decorating/painting (chose this one over another at the beach), but ended up scrubbing window bars. I think volunteers should do something similar to what they applied for.
They also showed no interest in getting to know me, despite being the only foreigner there. In two weeks, we had no interactions or time together. I sadly felt lonely and useless. Luckily, my volunteer mates talked to me and helped a lot.

Minha passagem no hostel foi incrível, não tenho nada para reclamar, ao contrário, somente agradecer pela oportunidade de colaborar e aprender tanto no processo! Fui muito bem recebido, as tarefas eram passadas claramente e com pessoas bem fáceis de se relacionar. Minha experiência foi otima. Recomendo!!!

Working as a volunteer at Graja Hostel was an incredible and enriching experience. From the moment I stepped in, they warmly welcomed me and took the time to explain my tasks, always making sure I felt comfortable in my role. The staff at Graja Hostel went above and beyond to ensure I’d have a great volunteering experience, making it truly unforgettable. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such a caring and dedicated team.
