Here in this home lives a small family; Cristian and Alejandra. We have a variety of animals of smaller species (goats, guineapigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks) and we have been working for two years in the process of agroecological management. In the vegetable garden we cultivate a diverse range of vegetables and medicinal plants in a purely organic form thereby seeking to greatly improve the wellbeing of the cultivated soil as well as that of the people who consume this produce.
We live in a permanent relationship with nature and our daily work allows us to marvel even more each day at the beauty of our environment.
In your free time you can visit many nearby villages including El Penol, Guatape, Marinilla. We are located 1.5 bus ride from Medellin and 30 minutes from Guatape. Please, be informed that we do not speak English but we have had experience with travellers from all over the world who want to learn and practice Spanish. We guarantee that we will do the best to make you feel comfortable and speak Spanish clearly, so you can understand us. If you write to us in English we have friends who will help to communicate with you and arrange your arrival.
Our daily tasks are; feeding chickens, rabbits, goats, guineapigs, dogs, cats, cleaning their pens, preparing compost, cultivating the vegetable garden, harvesting and building bioconstructions-most of which are constructed with guadua/bamboo from the forest where there is a reserve of water and wood. It is also a meditation site and a habitat for beautiful butterflies with transparent wings, squirrels, possoms and diverse birds.
Visiting our farm you can find tranquility, connection with nature, opportunity for spanish practice and you can gain true insight into living in the countryside like a rural farmer. Also, we can learn and share knowledge about a variety of topics; agroecology, permaculture, experimental cooking, art and so on.
The approach to work here is voluntary; our philosophy here is respect for every plant, animal and person. For this reason we would like for each volunteer to choose the work that best suits them and that they enjoy and in this way they can carry out their work with more love to create an energy that is balanced and harmonious.
We have a house with two shared rooms. Our form of living is simply rural and modest without luxury and pretension as well as having some places to meditate and tune into the energy of the environment.
The food; three meals a day and tea/ coffee throughout the day. Everyone on the farm cooks and cleans plates, which is scheduled on a voluntary basis by signing up on the board. We consider cooking to be a creative activity and so you are free to cook what you wish using ingredients from the pantry or harvested from the garden.
