Hacienda Barriche

Anyone who has been here for a short time has fallen in love with the environment. Besides that, the place and the people who work here are great.

As for the place, it's called 'Hacienda' and is made up of several buildings with different uses such as: dormitories, a 150m2 multipurpose room, dining room, etc. Our mission is to organize the best experiences in nature for everyone: families, schools, friends, etc. Our concept includes slow-cooked meals, activities, workshops and comfortable stays.

Working seasonally gives us time to renovate and implement improvements learned in previous seasons, which is why we are looking for some volunteers for the beginning of the year.

Helping with: painting, gardening, maintenance such as carpentry, masonry, restoration (a bit of everything but easy). In addition to other roles such as social media, content creation (videos, photos, writings, etc.)

When we are open, from mid-March to late November (with the peak season from May to September) we also need help with the experiences. The main tasks are based on: adventure activities, workshops, childcare, dining room helper and bartender.

This is our briefest summary; please contact us with any questions you have. Thank you!

We are a small family-owned company started 17 years ago going through a generational handover. Therefore, we mix old values with new ideas and mindsets.

If you come to stay with us, you will be treated as one of us and you will become part of our family.
We like to eat together when we can (sometimes the schedule doesn't help). We do not hesitate to help others when they ask us.

Our mission is that you feel at home and convey our values and way of thinking, as well as the lifestyle of the Cadiz countryside.

I had an awesome time at the lodge! My only struggle was with the tasks being given. For the vast majority of my hours, it was maintenance and manual labor rather than any activities with kids. However, I believe it was a stressful period for the leadership, so I want to give grace there. Other than that, everyone was so welcoming and friendly to me! Christian, Paki, Patri, Gloria, Ellie, Elsa. Thank you all so much for an amazing experience! I hope to see you again someday. The people here are truly the adventure! Alvaro, thank you for such an opportunity. It means the world to me.

My experience at the lodge has been very positive from the start. I felt welcomed and accepted by everyone. The work team is friendly and close. I have met both foreign volunteers and local people. Everyone has been friendly and inclusive with me. From the beginning they gave me confidence. The natural environment of the place is beautiful. Although it is somewhat isolated, they help you get to know other cities and have new experiences. I have very fond memories with my companions. I especially thank Patri, who is very good, and Álvaro, who is the perfect host.

An especially beautiful experience from start to finish. We want to especially thank Álvaro for all his attentions; from the very first moment he gave us a lot of confidence and closeness, making everything even more enjoyable. The work is fairly relaxed and the surroundings are truly charming, ideal for disconnecting and reconnecting with nature. I would highly recommend it also because of the people who welcome you: they are very warm, kind, and, above all, very good people. Moreover, the people we met during the volunteer work were great. I would undoubtedly repeat the experience, thank you for everything.

The lodge was undoubtedly an unforgettable experience. My first volunteering experience and one I would repeat without thinking. From the first day to the last, every moment was filled with warmth: people always willing to help, to train, and to make you feel at home.

Living with nature, with the locals, with the children and making you feel like friends from different parts of the world was extraordinary. The place is wonderful, very quiet and has everything you need for the stay; comfortable rooms, delicious food and a great work atmosphere.

I loved my time at the lodge! Everyone welcomed me with open arms and I felt very comfortable, especially to practice my Spanish. In March, they were just starting the regular season for camps, so some things were less structured and organized when I first arrived, but they absolutely ironed out as the weeks went on. Again, due to the off-season timing of my stay, I overlapped with just one other volunteer for 4 days, and was solo the rest of the time. What a perfect place to reconnect with nature and meet some incredible Spaniards!
