Hacienda Mazahua
Welcome to Hacienda Mazahua where you will get a genuine Mexico experience. We are in the heart of the valley of Mexico at 8,000ft elevation! This is no Cancun but it is rich in history and culture. The Hacienda itself was built in 1718 so in itself it is a historical building with some beautiful architecture.
If that is not enough, we are a short drive (or bus ride) from some beautiful towns such as El Oro, Tlalpujahua, and the Monarch butterfly sanctuary.
All of our staff are locals to the area. While they are all friendly, most of them do not speak great English so if you want to be immersed in a language you have found the right place.
While the Hacienda is a large place, we only have about 6 full time staff with most of the other staff being brought in for events. So we are very close and usually al have lunch together.

I had a truly lovely time at the Hacienda. It is a gorgeous place that allows you to unwind and move through the days slowly and intentionally.
The volunteer work was a nice mix of tasks, and there's always something to do or help with as long as you take the initiative. I also loved learning about equine therapy, and experiencing the calming presence of the animals on the property.
Massive thank you to Yoshi who went out of his way on many occasions, such as picking me up and dropping me off, and taking the time to get to know myself and the other volunteers. And to Lisa & Norbert! :)

The hotel gave me the opportunity to do and discover new things. I met very friendly people; I tried new dishes, very tasty; I was able to immerse myself in the hotel's culture; the activities were not heavy and were varied; the facilities help you relax and at the same time to keep you active with its courts and green spaces, which is why volunteering at the hacienda was a great experience.

Experience museum-quality historical architecture, as well as the inner workings of a local business catering to local people. Bonus points if you have construction, plumbing, HVAC and/or renovation experience.

It was a very pleasant experience to be able to unwind at the hacienda; it is very rewarding to be able to spend time with Yoshi, Mauricio, and Nancy; it makes the stay more enjoyable; there is a lot to do at the hacienda, but it is very exciting to participate in the activities that come up; would I again be part of the hotel?

Excellent experience! It is definitely a beautiful place where you can enjoy nature thanks to its lovely green areas, it helps you disconnect and enjoy the present. Yoshi is a very busy guy, but whenever he has the opportunity you can have a wonderful conversation and treat yourself to a little escape to the surroundings. Regarding activities, at the hotel there is always something to do, therefore boredom certainly does not come even close to visiting you. I would gladly be back here ❤️ thanks Yoshi and the team 🤗
