We are in the heart of Edinburgh and staying with us is not only an opportunity to experience the city but it is also an experience to be a part of our hostel family.
We are a fresh, new , young team that are very eager to bring a whole new energy to an old, historic and beautiful building.
I am looking for staff that are respectful, easy-going and hard working. We need people who will not only bring a positive vibe to the hostel but also, are able to share their ideas so that we can continue to make this hostel feel even more like a home.

This place will be always in my heart. I had such a wonderful time; I never dreamed of living on a big intercultural family like this, and having the opportunity to meet many travellers from different countries. I had lots of fun, I saw stunning places in Scotland, and I made some friendships that I will cherish for ever. The work is flexible, there are different things that you can choose to do and many new things you can learn! Gabs, Penny and Dale are really kind and supporting. I can't recommend this experience enough, thank you HSH, I would love to come back someday.

The hostel is a great place to meet people, stay and enjoy the beauties of Edinburgh. The team is great and the work easily stays in the 14 hours. It is also possible to visit the Highlands through the hostel, with tours or alone. I had a great time and even as a loner you always feel welcome in the hostel.

Guys I just checked in for my shift at the happiness factory and our newest product is Scotland hostels. If you cheeky travellers want a REAL Edinburgh stay… don't pass up on the opportunity to volunteer at the hostel. I truly believe that every person I met at the hostel is wonderful and unique in the best way possible. I hope that they leave as positive an impact on all the other people they meet as they've done upon myself. Seriously the hostel has a very special place in my heart 🫶🫶

My month in edinburgh has been absolutely amazing! Hsh is such a special place, i loved every second of being there. Every single volunteer and staff member is sosososo wonderful, i dont think words alone can do them justice<3 as for the work, the hours are as written, 14 a week, either cleaning or hosting events, very straight forward:):) Again i cant recommend hsh enough!

Having the experience of volunteering at the hostel was amazing, the place is very beautiful and well organized! Honestly I did not expect there would be so many volunteers, but it was a pleasant surprise because everyone gets along very well, the communication is very clear, everyone helps each other and respects one another and, beyond that, you feel really part of the family. Because of the relaxed environment I met many people who returned to volunteer again, which is wonderful. The work is really calm, well explained and divided, I loved it and would definitely come back again 🫶🏻
