Highlands Hostel
Why should you volunteer at the highlands hostel?? Wow!! There is no way you will ever forget your experience… trust me!! We do our chores and Hit the 7 soft Sandy Beaches!! Explore the National Park! Swim in the Fresh water lakes! Bath in fresh water rivers and play on the natural water slide!! Waterfalls! Fish fresh sea bass at night!! Eat seafood!! Home cooked meals!! Be apart of our family! 21 degrees warm clean ocean waters!! Hikes everywhere!! We are a musical hostel!! We have acoustic bass and acoustic guitars.. electric guitars and electric bass!! Full jam room with amps cabs mics and drum kits, electric keyboard!! A fiddle a old piano! We have a Nintendo station with over 200 games!! We have a 60 foot bell tower with hammocks and fiber op internet! We have bon fires every night in the spring summer and fall!! After hours Music and karaoke machine!! We set up outdoor theater!! We have an indoor theater for movies nights and sports. We have a new ski hill and a Nordic centre!! We have the coast longboarding museum of downhill in the hostel…we have lots of fun!! We have an art station!! Help build huge snow caves to hang out in and sleep in during the winter!! Hang out or sleep in the adventure rv!! Learn to longboard!! Learn to grow cannabis…winter and rainy day Wood stove fires!! Cook on the TRAEGER!! It’s a smoker, broiler, BBQ, braise, grill, roast and bake! We chase rainbows.. storms in the bell tower!! Bla bla bla!!

My month at the hostel made me so excited for all the adventures and fun that life still has in store for me! Every single person I met there taught me something special, and I learned so much about freedom, courage, and living life to the fullest. I miss you all SO much!! I promise I'll come back someday! Looking through our photos makes me tear up every single time (I seriously can't help it 😭). I wish I could go back and relive those beautiful moments with you all over again. Sending everyone the biggest hugs and lots of love!! ❤️

This experience was so much more than volunteering. It was about family, connection, personal growth, and creating memories that I will carry with me forever. You have genuinely changed my life in ways I cannot fully put into words. I came to the hostel as a volunteer, but I am leaving with a heart full of gratitude and a family I will always cherish. Thank you for being such beautiful people and for making this experience unforgettable. the hostel will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️

It was my first volunteer job experience. I loved it 🥰 Actually it didn't feel as a job, was more fun and being part of an always welcoming family. As soon as you get the place you can feel the good vibes 😎

Had an absolute blast it's hard to put into words! The whole fam are so welcoming from the moment I got there are really got to build some great bonds with everyone and my fellow volunteers! The work is super easy to get a hang of and very manageable. Plenty of time for chilling in the bell tower or hammock along with some crazy adventures that made me feel like I got the full cape Breton experience rain or shine! Honestly Bricin, Patricia, Billie, Cash Money and Peter were such a great family to spend time with I even shed a few tears on the bus to the airport. 🩷🩷🩷 Thanks guys :)))

I spent 2 months at the hostel and I cannot say a bad thing about it. If I could stay longer I would have. Bricin, Patricia and Pete have a beautiful family and made me feel nothing but welcome. The amount of work is very manageable and once the work is finished Bricin would take us all out for adventures. It's a very unique place full of very unique people and if you are looking for a change in environment or a different experience I would look no further than the Highland Hostel. They are nothing but accepting and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity
