Hostal & Tour Operator Compass del Sur

First we greatly respect the working times and conditions agreed with each volunteer, and we highly value the participation of motivated and proactive volunteers.

We are a small, family-sized hostel (only 10 rooms) but with high guest turnover and a diversity of guests, mainly in the peak months.
We are characterized by providing a lot of support to guests; we try to help them find the activities and excursions they are looking for. Informing in a transparent way, but we also sell many organized tourist services directly from the hostel:
For this reason, volunteers represent an important part of our public-facing service system, both when they support us in domestic tasks and in administrative tasks and at front-desk work.

This was my first volunteer experience and it exceeded my expectations. The communication from the beginning to the end of the process with the anfritiões was quite fluid and clear. I was very well received by Malin and Mauro on the first day and they explained to me how everything worked. The accommodations are great, as is the area for cooking and shared use. The schedules were very well observed. The tasks are exactly as in the advertisement and it was one of the most positive points, since I could learn more about other areas. I thank Malin and Mauro for the trust, patience in teaching. It was a great experience!

Mauro and Malin explained the tasks well and respected the days off. The hotel and the volunteers' room are comfortable and breakfast is provided. However, the cleaning work is intense and demanding, especially during the main shifts. I think a greater rotation between shifts could make the experience less exhausting. I decided to end volunteering early because the dynamics and the physical workload did not match what I was looking for, although I gave my notice ten days in advance. Even so, the process was more tense than I expected.

My volunteer at the hostel of the hostel was excellent, the tasks are well organized and the hosts Mauro and Malin are excellent people and explain all tasks to you with a lot of dedication, furthermore the location is the best two blocks from the lake and the center. Puerto Varas is a beautiful city with lakes and volcanoes, I hope to return soon!!

From the first day I felt very comfortable with everything. The hosts, Malin and Mauro, were always very kind and attentive, respecting each person's learning pace, with a lot of patience and warmth. The hostel is very quiet, as are the people staying there. The common spaces are spacious and comfortable, ideal for sharing or simply resting.
Totally recommendable. I would return without a doubt.
