Hostel Sambaqui Bonete

Hostel Sambaqui is located on Bonete Beach, at the southern tip of Ilhabela, SP. To get here you need to take a boat from the mainland or hike a 12 km trail. Cars don’t reach here. Sambaqui, besides being a hostel, is a home. We want everyone who visits us to feel comfortable, at ease, and warmly welcomed. We greatly value a welcoming environment and believe that the maintenance and organization of the spaces ensure this feeling. Living in Bonete means being immersed in nature and experiencing the most diverse experiences, whether chopping wood to make a bonfire on the beach, taking care of the compost bin and the garden, going to a fisherman's house to buy a fresh fish to cook for lunch, being awakened by macaws and spending the afternoon listening to nothing but the sound of birds and trees. But we are in the middle of nature and not everything is tranquility and calm. Sometimes days of rain and rough seas call us to slow down, connect, and self-discover. Bonete is a portal and Hostel Sambaqui is a home that welcomes and comforts within this portal of possibilities.

Our team consists of a core staff and, depending on the season, 1 to 3 volunteers. We strive to be committed to the volunteer/host exchange and we seek volunteers who are willing to commit to this exchange as well and who, above all, take the time to research Bonete and understand the unique characteristics of this place. Do not come here misinformed.
