Japan Cat Network
Volunteering with us gives travelers a chance to experience Japanese nursery schools and to learn more about this aspect of Japanese culture. Also, you can do something meaningful in support of animal welfare in Japan. We hope to offer volunteers an interesting experience while in Japan, and a chance to make the community a better place. Our school programs foster international awareness and our animal programs foster positive relationships between humans and animals in the community.
We started our Kyoto program to help support animal welfare activities in Japan and to add international participation to our local schools. This is a win-win situation for both the community and the volunteers who join our program. We are positive people, with an aim of having a positive impact. We are vegan and veg friendly, but not exclusive.

I absolutely loved working with the shelter! I volunteered for the school program, and was able to not only have an amazing experience, but it felt like I actually got to connect with the locals as well. I loved living so close to the schools, I truly got to experience living like a local, even if my stay was only for a month. I highly recommend volunteering for these guys, you won't regret it!

Definitely I had a lot of fun working at the daycare, I would definitely do it again. The schedule is Monday to Friday, and almost 90% of the days you eat the same as the kids. That said, knowing Japanese helps a lot. The house is a bit old, and it's true that the bathroom could be more comfortable, but since the house was free I can't complain. It's a unique experience to work with the little ones and for sure I loved it.

I worked at a dog shelter in Cusco and really wanted to have some experience with cats. Luckily, I found JCN and was able to learn a lot over the past few days. The work might seem a bit meticulous at first, but every detail matters and there's always someone around to guide you, even when the host is not on the workplace. The tasks require attention, but nothing too physically demanding. The working hours were respected, and the team was always very thoughtfu/careful l with the volunteers. The cats are amazing 😻. I really enjoyed the experience and I'm very grateful for everything

Minha estadia foi ótima! A casa realmente não é nova, mas era confortável. Seguimos todas as orientações em relações a comida e lixo, por isso não tivemos problemas. A experiência com as crianças foi incrÃvel, realmente foi surpreendente está tão imerso na cultura Japonesa, apesar disso uma das escolas tem um horário um pouco mais difÃcil, pois são 5h divididas em dois turnos, mas recomendaria o trabalho e voltaria. Os anfitriões estão sempre dispostos a ajudar, então qualquer coisa que precisar, você deve conversar com eles, Luis e Célia nos ajudaram e fizeram nosso tempo melhor.
