Volunteering at the coliving is a unique experience. The highlight is the possibility to hear from locals about Japanese culture and their perspective on the world. The host, Yuta, often doesn't answer Whatsapp messages, so I suggest looking for him in person to resolve any issues, or giving him a call if it's urgent. Overall, I strongly recomend this experience to anyone passing through Tokyo.

The whole experience was amazing. Even if you are an introvert this will help you pass beyond your communication skills. Recommend it to everyone!

The work at the coliving is straightforward and easy. You speak with mostly locals that want to improve their language skills. When you get there there is immediately a social night so you get to know your fellow volunteers, which I enjoyed a lot. The accomodations are very basic... One thing I didn't like was that with my accomodation you couldn't lock the individual apartment doors, only the front door everyone uses. But it is close as it is like a 15min walk.

This was a unique opportunity to connect with local Japanese people and share conversations with them every week. It was one of the best ways to experience Japanese culture beyond the usual tourist activities. Sometimes it could be a little difficult to keep conversations going, especially when the café was very busy and noisy. However, both the café and the accommodation were in very central areas of Tokyo, making it easy to explore the city and get around. Overall, it was a rewarding cultural exchange that I would recommend to anyone visiting Japan.

Volunteering at Café the coliving was a lot of fun! If you're interested in meeting locals and learning deeply about Japanese culture, this will be a unique experience for you. The working hours are very fair, so you'll have plenty of free time to explore Tokyo. A heads-up if you're an introvert (like me): at times, you'll really have to "burn some brain cells" to keep the conversation flowing for 4 hours straight. It was definitely a challenge for me (haha), but I had a blast anyway! Yuta, the owner, is incredibly kind, helpful, and considerate. Highly recommended! Thank you very much 🙏
