Laos Buffalo Dairy

Volunteers get to cuddle daily with our pigs, rabbits and buffalo while giving tours, helping guests learn about our social enterprise and making animal friends all along the way.
Volunteers are a great resource in helping our team improve their English language as well.

LBD has a team of 40 full time Laos staff and 3 American/Australian business partners. Our team is very much like a big family and they love sharing their experiences and learning from others.

My experience at the host was wonderful and will stay with me forever! From day one, I felt welcomed and trusted to contribute with creativity and new ideas. I had the opportunity to learn about the daily operations of the farm, work alongside an amazing team, and gain insight into the social impact the project has on the local community. It was an enriching experience full of learning, cultural exchange, and unforgettable moments. Thank you to everyone for making me feel at home and part of the family.

It was the best volunteer experience we've had during our trip to Asia. :) Susie and Steven are adorable and very thoughtful. Our working hours were quiet: we only worked 3 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. We could therefore explore Luang Prabang on the other 4 days. The work itself is very stimulating and interesting. For a month, we became little tour guides and ice-cream sellers, using different foreign languages. We highly recommend this experience 100% :)

Absolutely loved this unique experience. Felt very welcomed and part of the mission. Already miss the buffaloes (and other animals) and definitely the ice cream. 3 days on (about 8 hour days) 4 days off. Plan to do trips like Nong Khiaw or Vang Vieng or you might get a bit bored on the off days if you don\'t have things already planned (like Lao lessons). Volunteers can always ask to come in and help out on their days off, I occasionally did that. Don\'t forget to feed Lao her wet food 💜😂 and ask PK to make you a latte at least once!!

Was a bit of a different experience compared to many other volunteer opportunities I did so far.
Long hours but only for 3 days a week, that leave you soo much time off (that sometimes I went for an extra day) to do few days trip around the area.
Owners and local team are very fun to be around once you get to know them and are happy to share stories.
Every day you are working you get to eat amazing food and meet meet many different kind of people.
Totally recommend the experience you you wanna a break from your travels.
