Mama Knows Beach Cafe

If you love nature and the ocean, good vibes, and meeting amazing people from all over the world, this is the perfect spot for you 🌊✨.
You’ll be part of a relaxed beach café team, surrounded by palm trees, sunshine, and great company. Every day brings a mix of fun, learning, and connection — whether it’s chatting with guests, helping in the kitchen, midst of a very chilled beach environment. We work hard at the cafe whilst making sure we enjoy what is around us.
Volunteers need to be VERY comfortable with nature, and the various guests (monkeys, lizards big and small, civet cats, roach, rats, spiders, etc) that you may be exposed to at the cafe and at the accommodation. Accommodation - a private room in a very old basic wooden kampung (village) house, 10 minute walk to the cafe/ beach.
We believe in keeping things simple, chill, and joyful — work a few hours, enjoy your meal(s), and make memories that will last long after you leave 💙.

We’re a small, friendly team who loves creating a warm and welcoming space for both guests and volunteers 🌞.
You’ll be treated with kindness, respect, and appreciation — just like family. We value teamwork, open communication, and laughter, and we always make sure our volunteers feel comfortable and included.
We enjoy what we do, from serving good food to sharing stories by the beach, and we hope you’ll bring your own positive energy and creativity to our little seaside community 🌴😊.

If you're looking for a cozy place to connect with local culture and learn from a friend rather than a boss, Cherating is your place. From the very first moment, both Sathish and the town of Cherating welcomed me as one of them. The work is flexible and fun, and you also learn everything about the local drinks, and it’s something that really gives you new skills. I highly recommend this experience to everyone, especially if you want to live like a local.

I had an amazing experience volunteering at the beach café. Sathish is such an easy going host and treats you like family. Cherating is such a wonderful place, It was a great way to meet friendly locals and connect with travellers from all over the world. The work was enjoyable, the atmosphere was relaxed, and being so close to the beach made it even better. I'm really grateful for the experience and the people I met along the way. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and social volunteer experience!

I had really good time here in cherating.
Sathish,the owner is amazing!
He always care about us, he always offer what the best thing for us and also the people I work with are amazing.
Even we couldn’t communicate a lot since I don’t speak Malay, we supported each other, enjoying time together.
My usual day was like,I go hang out with friends I made in cherating, have lunch,go to beach, sun bathing, sometimes my friends take me to next town, I start volunteering 5pm until 10pm.
My experience there still 100000/100.
Thank you Sathish for such a nice experience

I didn't feel it as an experience, it was working 5 hours a day with a staff that doesn't speak English and Sathish who didn't share much during working time.
The beach is a few minutes' walk from the house, that was the best part of staying there for a month. Every day I enjoyed swimming and then I went to work (you wake up from the heat that you can't stand and you have to leave the house). You are completely alone since there are no tourists at this time, for me that wasn't a problem, but if you're looking for an experience, to exchange culture and socialize, this isn't for you.
