Marisletta gård - Tromsø

We only accept you if you have a EU VISA
https://www.udi.no/en/want-to-apply/visit-and-holiday/to-visit-norway-without-a-visa/

We have available spots for volunteers who want to come to the heart of the North-Norway. Preferably, you can stay for more than 6 weeks and hopefully 3 months.

If you want to learn how it is to live and stay at a farm in the arctic, with all the daily routines with the animals and other tasks at a farm. You have the possibility to come to us. At our farm we have sheeps (meat production), horses (horseback riding tours), dogs (working dogs), cats (cathotel) and a AirBNB house.

If you like to work outside and also inside you will find a perfect place at our farm.
The task and the days are quite diverse everyday even though we have the routine work.
Winterseason includes a lot of outdor activities, and experience with horses is an advantage.

If you like horses you can do horsebackride at your freetime and if you love cats you can have an quite time with them after work.
We have a cano you can use at the sea and there is a lot of mountains to go hiking on.

Tromsø is the nearest city only 25 min away with car (or bus). If you like to go tenting you can borrow stuff from us at your freetime. Or you can go biking around in the area. The area in Tromsø is beautiful with all the mountains and the sea. We live next to the sea but we can see Tromsø Island.

Anders and June, born in 68 and 75, and still quite young ;) Age is just a number. We have 2 girls born in 2007 and 2008. We live outside Tromsø city, only 25 min with car.
We like to work in a team with other people and get to know others ways of living, culture and personalitys.

We have had foreign helpers here since 2011 and have good experience with this. We have made new acquaintances and friendships in many countries and some of those who have been here have become part of our family.
We have also had the pleasure of getting to know their parents and grandparents.

We treat people with respect and as equals - And since we cant go out in the world, we bring the world to our place.

Hope to see you :)

The month with June and Andets overall pleased me very much; they were friendly and I felt comfortable. I was lucky to meet another traveler, so I had a lot of fun. Otherwise it can become a bit boring and lonely, since you can basically only explore the area on your days off. On the work days you sometimes work a little more than the agreed hours and then you basically have the afternoon off, but you have to feed the horses again in the late afternoon, which means you can’t really do much there because you have to go home again.

It was an incredible experience. June and Anders are truly welcoming and kind hosts. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and having the chance to see wild animals was unforgettable. All the farm animals are so cute and lovely.

One month is definitely not enough to stay in such an amazing place, and I will for sure come back again!

My experience with this family was truly beautiful and rewarding.June andAnders are very kind people. The arctic landscape and the surroundings of the farm are stunning-waking up every morning with that view was priceless.Working with the animals was wonderful.Sometimes the work could be a bit hard, but you'll definitely build some muscles!Working with the cats was definitely the best part of the experience for me.I also loved trying horseback riding and the afternoon carriage rides with the horses.I'm very grateful to them for teaching me so much about horses, farm life, norway and english!

I had a really great time with this host family. The landscape and the Arctic winter were absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. The family is very kind and I felt comfortable during my stay. The work can feel physically demanding at the beginning, but you don’t feel overworked. Riding and working with the horses was definitely my highlight, and the animals are very sweet and well cared for. The hosts are supportive and overall I truly enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back.

Overall, I had a great experience here and I'm glad that my first-ever volunteering trip has brought me here. The tasks are simple, but you will definitely build up some muscle. However, the days have a pretty similar routine, so for some people it could get boring. June and Anders are really nice and welcoming people, and we had a lot of fun and great conversations. The accommodation above the sheep stable is small and cozy, however, the bathroom situation is not great. It is not in the same building, so you have to use the toilet and shower in the cat hotel. Thank you June and Anders💞
