Meiga Hostel

Meiga Hostel is a place to feel at home. Very close to the historic center of Santiago de Compostela, it is an ideal place to get to know and experience the city, living in a space with a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

We are a small team with a very family-like atmosphere. We love having new people who bring us new experiences and fresh, renewed ideas from which we can learn. Meiga Hostel is a space where you feel comfortable, like family, and able to meet people from all over the world.

The tasks are easy, cleaning bathrooms, showers, floors and the kitchen, and checking in and assisting guests. The schedule is good, and the staff are welcoming. You meet travelers, and I even made friends.

Unfortunately, the basement accommodation has a strong mold smell, visible black mold on the walls and ceiling, and rotten baseboards due to humidity. I asked for an alternative, but was told that was the only option. I spent a week sleeping in a hammock outside before finding a new place. Since they only offer accommodation, it should meet basic health standards.

It was my first volunteering experience, and it couldn't have been better. Both Paula and Jorge are excellent people, highly recommended. The place, the atmosphere, and the people make it easy to handle and a great experience

My first volunteering experience and I recommend it to everyone who wants to be here; I was very warmly welcomed from the day I arrived here, I felt so welcomed that I decided to stay one more month. I definitely want to have more experiences like this!
I had the opportunity to meet many people at the hostel and practice my Spanish and English.
The hosts are excellent; Paula and Jorge are always willing to talk and are very kind.
Thank you for the opportunity 🤍🙏🏼

My experience at the hostel was excellent, I have felt comfortable at all times, the hostel is very quiet and the communication was always super clear. Paula and Jorge are incredible people and without a doubt I would come back.

I couldn't recommend the hostel Backpackers for volunteers more strongly! The tasks were reasonable, and Jorge and Paula were the most welcoming hosts. The hostel lends itself to socialising with guests, and I met some incredible people throughout my stay. I had an incredible month here, and hope to return someday!
