Reserva Natural El Maná

We are located in the heart of the Colombian mountains, so you will have the opportunity to experience the rural life of a country that is agricultural, coffee-producing, and humble like ours. In addition, you will be part of an ecological restoration project led by professional biologists, which will allow you to learn a lot about Colombian biodiversity and its importance.
We are 20 minutes away from one of the most beautiful attractions in Antioquia, El Salto del Buey.

We are a family:
The parents: Gabriel and Guadalupe are very warm people; they love music, the countryside, meeting travelers, and welcoming them with typical Colombian food.

The daughter: María Clara, I am a biologist, lover of travel, nature, organic food, community work, and the well-being of the body and the soul.

The volunteers will be treated as part of our family; we will offer them a complete immersion in Colombian peasant culture, we will teach them the entire process of organic coffee, fruit harvesting, and the planting of a native forest.

I absolutely loved my stay at the reserve. From the minute I arrived the Botero family was very welcoming and made me feel at home. The energy that this place and the family emanate is unique and full of love. Within the two weeks I was there, time seemed to slow down. Lupe puts a lot of love and effort into every meal. I learned a lot about sustainable coffee farming, traditional cooking, about colombian culture, only to name a few things. I had the privilege to get to know a very authentic side of colombian culture as well as its beautiful nature and people. Much love, I will come back!

I spent three dream weeks with Gabriel and Lupe, Maria Clara's parents.
The daily tasks are varied but revolve around gardening: coffee harvest, fertilizer application, care of the young plants, weeding… We learn quickly and we understand well the functioning of the coffee culture.
I also greatly appreciated life on site: Lupe's dishes are excellent, the guitar and singing evenings are very convivial, the two cats are very cuddly, as well as the weather and the magnificent view.
Gabriel and Lupe are attentive and willingly share their love for nature.

10/10 recommend. The mountains surrounding the farm are breathtaking, a very peaceful place. The hosts are extremely welcoming and accommodating. I was happily surprised to have my own room AND hot water in the shower! Lupe cooks 3 delicious meals every day for everyone- I promise you will not go hungry. The work can be hard, especially with the extreme slope of working on the side of the mountain- but of course that's part of experiencing real farm life in Colombia. Get a Claro SIM card before going (TIGO doesn't get service out there)
