Residencial R10

Our place is a student residence for exchange students. During the holidays we receive travelers from all around the world. Turning the place as a Hostel, more chilling and adaptable, everyone has their own space at the room, with the chance to share with international people and with locals, Hanging around, going out with them, sharing opinions culture, food, points of view and much more.

Along with a friend we run the business, we are under 30, very relaxed but also demanding. Usually we are in the house working in some of the positions, or doing other things. Our staff is always changing, but most of the time we have a few locals working with us, also we have some resident artist that help us with many things. More than an employee we like treating people as collaborators, always can expect help from us or someone to talk with.

It was a great experience where I was able to learn mixology and connect with all kinds of people. Working with Ronald and Carlos was a unique opportunity since both have good energy and are professional chefs with ample experience in cooking and mixology. The only problem I had was with Diego, the 'kitchen admin', as it's always difficult to deal with a person with such a big ego. Excluding that, I am happy to have chosen the house to do my volunteer work.

I was surprised to be told that the volunteer position was not for the guest house but actually for the hostel nearby. The hostel was a bit in a bad shape overall, especially the kitchen areas. The volunteer dorm was okay, although I got assigned the only bed whose ladder was blocked by the drawer, so I had to climb every night to go to bed. Not suited for someone with mobility issues. The shift was okay, although quite boring because of low season. There were some nights I didn't make any cocktails at all. Overall it was OK.
