Sails On Kos

Au pair/ child minder / educator: We are looking for someone to look after our 19 month old boy toddler . We are in a unique position and think we can offer a special experience and relationship to the right person. Who we are: We run a glamping resort on the island of Kos Greece. www.sailsonkos.com We are a family business in our second year of operation. My wife, Madeleine, her mother Louisa, my father George and myself Alexi and our son Jethro. We have a small close-knit team of staff and a working volunteer programme. We try very hard to make our team feel like part of our family with the intention of passing on that level of hospitality to our guests. So far in spite of the difficult times this seems to be working. We want whoever we find for this role to join our family, understand our perspective and carry this forward to your engagements with our son. Last year we were able to carry the work load and look after Jethro in a way we were happy with but this season as he is older and more demanding we are finding it difficult. That is why we are looking for someone to help us with him during the day. What we are looking for: 5-8 hours a day depending on the day. Someone with an alternative educational experience or mindset would be a bonus. We try to practice child lead and free range parenting approach and would hope to find someone comfortable and familiar with this. We are looking for someone who would be more than a nanny. Not someone to just watch that Jethro is safe and ok, but someone to engage with him, play with him, take him on excursions to the beach, mountain, neighboring farms etc. We are hoping to find someone for the remainder of the season September till 1st November but the possibility of a longer stay / returning next season is a possibility. At the same time we will consider a shorter one month stay We believe based on our experience with current and past volunteers that the set up here works very well for people with online work, students, alternative travel/volunteering mindsets as there is time in the day to work, enjoy our resorts facilities and the benefits of being on a Greek island in summer. Jethro is a very active, social and well natured baby/toddler. He enjoys playing outdoors, with the animals, reading and spending time with other people and children. He is very verbal. What we can offer: We provide the same basics as all our volunteers. Shared accommodation (1 other person, same sex) communal bathrooms, 3 meals a day and 1 day off per week but the days off and hours worked are flexible. IE if you pass up on the day off in lieu we are happy to allow you to take the days off in bulk if you want to travel neighbouring islands or relax and explore Kos. Our volunteers work 4 to 4.5 hours a day (part time hours) for hours above this we are happy to engage in any offers you have for payment. We will consider any offers at all for the right person. There is also the prospect of earning extra income by offering childminding for our hotel guests as our main market is families. This can be arranged on site and on demand. We would like to have someone join us as soon as possible. English speaking is required we are very happy if you have other languages under your belt! We look very forward to hearing from you and meeting you! Many thanks Alexi, Madeleine and Jethro. www.sailsonkos.com

We have a mixed team of staff, from the village we live in to all around the world, Yemen, UK to Canada and Australia. We try to bring our staff into our family and work as a large family team

I really enjoyed my stay in Kos! .I fell in love with the Aegean Sea, so blue! a peaceful place to think and write if you are looking for some time to enjoy yourself. George's family make you feel more than welcome and the volunteers always find a way to have fun. The work schedules are easy and leave you plenty of time to enjoy local life. I look forward to coming back...💙💙💙

I finished my Sails on Kos experience a week ago and I already miss that place.
It was my first time volunteering, but I think it will be hard to top.
As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by this generous and warm-hearted family and immediately felt at home. The work wasn't hard, the hours were respected and I had plenty of free time to relax and get to know the whole island. The atmosphere was amazing, not only among the family and volunteers but also with the guests.
Sails on Kos is without a doubt the perfect place for an unforgettable experience.
I hope to be able to come back soon! 💙

My time at Sails is going to be hard to top. From the beginning I was welcomed by this warm-hearted family who made me feel like home from the very beginning. The work wasn’t too hard, work hours was respected and there was enough flexibility to enjoy the island. The atmosphere here is amazing and so are the sunsets. My highest recommendation 💙
