Sitio Nascente

Paradisiacal place among the mountains with impressive fauna and flora.
We have a water spring with a lake for swimming and fishing, in addition to an artificial waterfall, an area for meditative/body practices, local connections with other sites, and a team passionate about protecting and planting the forest.
Learning in: regenerative agriculture with agroforestry systems, garden, banana and açaí harvesting and processing, ancestral cuisine, drying of medicinal herbs, waste management and composting, small repairs and bioconstruction, mutual support and collective management of the spaces.

Our team is composed of an agronomist and agroforestry practitioners. We will be happy to welcome people who are willing and motivated to participate in activities focused on regenerative agriculture and to share in the good living at @nascentesitio. We maintain experimental hectares of agroforestry aimed at fruit growing, but we are not yet a profitable business, therefore we ask for a contribution of 60.00 (shared room) or 120.00 (private room) per day as a donation to the project to help cover personnel and logistics expenses related to maintaining the volunteer program.

My first experience in agroforestry, and wow, how much I learned! The activities are quite varied (and they'll depend on what's happening at the site and the season). Whether you're accompanied by Dani, Aizita or Nicolas, the work in the field has always brought me new insights and good conversations. Outside of work, my mentor was Igor, both for a capoeira initiation and for a demonstration of how to bake bread — a great companion on rainy days. The lodging and internet were perfect for teaching my online classes in my spare time. A huge thank you to the entire Nasciente team 🫶

From my favorite volunteer experiences in Brazil, my time in nascente was wonderful; I arrived when they were preparing the ground to plant coffee (among many other things) and I couldn't resist extending my time to be part of that phase until the end.
Every day I learned a lot about agroforestry life, the logic behind each line, each process, thanks to Aizita and Nicolás for being such good teachers.
I connected a lot with the other volunteers, the whole stay felt very light, the food delicious, first time trying many ingredients or dishes.
I loved it

The experience was great! From the moment of applying with Claudia, who was super kind and very efficient. The site's team is incredible, wonderful people in many different ways.

Aizita practices agroforestry and even runs the kitchen with a passion that's beautiful to behold... Marrisa, with her incredible upbeat energy and her experience with coffee, radiates light through the space... Igo, with his grace and sweetness, always a partner for work and for the exchange of knowledge... and Nicolas, with his willingness to work and patience for teaching how to be and produce agroforestry.

I had a very educational stay at the farm and especially enjoyed the time in nature. The landscape is indescribably beautiful. The work was very varied and care is taken to ensure that you do not exceed your hours. A highlight was the vegetarian lunch. I would only recommend the host if you speak Portuguese. Since it wasn't a requirement, I chose the host with only English knowledge, but unfortunately almost no one spoke English, which made communication somewhat challenging.

The farm felt so home-y, like my grandparents' house in Guatemala. I felt truly welcomed, loved the people, the shared meals and conversations, the after work fun activities and learned an extensive amount over agroforestry and regenerative practices! The team's kindness, flexible work hours during the heat, and comfortable dorms made it a deeply heartwarming experience. I hope to return someday. Just be prepared: the mosquitoes are very intense. Bring strong repellent and protection and have some foundational Portuguese down. You will also be preparing your own meals on days off. Gracias❤️
