SYnergia

Our project began as a typical association of young people with common interests, aimed at addressing areas with little visibility in Braga. It focused on supporting the city's emerging bands and urban arts. After all these years, we feel that Synergia is well established and has managed to respond to the difficulties that youth face.

Our transformation was driven by a need among young people: international mobility. When we felt they were interested in getting to know new realities, we decided to invest in a department connected to the Erasmus program. From there, there was a shift in our strategy!

Our work is based on the values that sustain youth associations: justice, solidarity, responsibility, cooperation, social awareness, and space to exercise and advocate for rights: environment, mobility, culture, sport, leisure. The cooperative should contribute to the consolidation and promotion of the social fabric and be an important driver of social transformation and innovation.

We sought to value youth, sports, and social culture, encouraging everyone to join us. We are involved in several projects, relying on the support of numerous volunteers, who bring us what they do best. We also encourage on-the-job training for all team members and have sought to work on several fronts, taking as our main responsibility the integration of all young people, with particular attention to those who typically have more difficulty accessing activities.

I loved my stay in the organization, the whole team and people were amazing and welcoming, and living with volunteers from all over the world is really a unique and meaningful experience. The work si pretty easy since most of the time we were doing workshops and creative activities. The organization is usually a bit messy since we usually didn't really know what we were gonna do from one day to another so there isn't any specific and precise schedule. But it was an amazing time I spent that I can only recommend, if you have any questions feel free to text me on instagram : math6ilde_p !

Overall, my experience was amazing. I met some really special people and was sad to leave. Having three days off each week was great for day trips and weekend travel. The work was mostly easy and fun, and there was morning workshops on topics like human rights and kindness and afternoons were with the community. Communication around tasks and hours could have been better, with a lot of waiting around and not always knowing what was happening. It was also difficult to change days or get time off when needed. Despite this, I had an incredible experience and am very grateful for the opportunity.
