The Yak Lake House
The Yak Lake House is located right on the beautiful lagoon of Bacalar! Our volunteers receive special prices in the hostel bar, free tours, and a chance to spend some time in paradise!
Our international staff makes the hostel a fun and interesting place to work! Each staff member brings new energy and ideas, invaluable to the amazing atmosphere we strive to create for staff and guests alike!

Mi tiempo en el Yak fue mágico. Todo el staff del hostal son personas hermosas, muy atentas y dispuestas. El trabajo es sencillo, con buena actitud y ganas de intercambiar sonrisas, vas a tener una experiencia muy linda en todo momento. Se respetan siempre los horarios laborales y la casa de staff tiene todo lo necesario. La buena vibra del hostal es increíble. Gracias por dejarme vivir la experiencia! 😁

Formar parte del equipo de actividades del Yak fue una experiencia muy linda. Tienen una propuesta de actividades interesantes tanto para el huésped como para el voluntario, lo que lo hace el día a día más divertido aún. Me llevo un hermosos recuerdos, muchos aprendizajes y sobre todo gente muy linda que se volvió familia, gracias.

The experience allows to see the beauty in Bacalar, hostel by the lagoon to swim everyday and Sailboat and Paddleboard free tours🤙. The work is great, very fun and interact with guests, amazing time. Only downside is you don’t live at the hostel, it’s a residence specifically for workers and is not a very clean place. However has a good location and you get one lunch meal per day. Renata, Alfredo, guys from the bar and kitchen are very nice and friendly. Two days off and “work” doesn’t really feel like work at all, it’s just having responsible fun in the activities.

Este fue mi primer voluntariado en Mexico
La pase increíble tenemos buenos beneficios pude hacer muchos tours sin pagar ni un solo peso pude practicar mi ingles 24/7 conocí gente de todos lados.
Nos dan una comida al día.
Y tienen una casa de staff a dos min de el hostal!
Las actividades son súper fáciles. Tranquis todo bien.

Volunteering at the Yak was an unforgetable experience. I got many great and a little maybe no thaaat great things to say about this place. Volunteers doesnt sleep at the Yak, they do at Pueblo Viejo. When I arrived it surprised me because things like the kitchen and fridge were increíble dirty, I couldnt find a place to save my food. The best about pueblo viejo is itd community, it was a place for thousand of laughs and meeting wonderful people. You'll work 6h, 5 days a week organizando the hostels activities. I loves the staff of the Yak, and Ill keep many of them in my hearth! Saludos Yakos
