Tribo do Sol

Tribo do Sol celebrates the richness of local ingredients through endemic and living seasonal cooking. This culinary concept focuses on using foods that are grown and harvested in harmony with the seasons, ensuring freshness and sustainability. The living approach refers to preparing foods in a way that preserves their natural nutrients, involving living-food and raw techniques such as fermentation, dehydration, germination, and many others. It promotes a healthy diet that seeks to recover and valorize regional food heritage, connecting people to the land and local culture. This creates a unique and conscious gastronomic experience, inviting participants to savor time and the natural cycles.
Tribo do Sol contributes to food education in daily practices, in the Cozinha do Sol seminars or in active participation in Alter do Chão's agroecological fair.

Volunteers will be treated with empathy and solidarity.
We are willing to convey practical and intellectual information, point out responsibilities and delegate duties.
Love for others and living well is the theme of this agroforestry space.

In the project, I had the opportunity to experience a more alternative lifestyle, where sustainability and health were central themes.

Day-to-day life mostly consisted of performing house chores and helping in the kitchen. It is possible to learn many curious and healthy recipes during the activities. The host is also always open to sharing what she knows.

I think they could improve the infrastructure, mainly the bathroom and the bedroom; the main points are the lack of privacy in the bathroom and leaks in the ceiling of the bedroom. The distance to the city is also a point to consider.

I spent two weeks at the project, where I was welcomed by Yasmin. It was a simple living experience, with a focus on the house routine, food preparation, production of kombuchas, participation in the agroecological market, and some activities on the land. In addition to volunteering, it's important to understand that you also share the day-to-day life of a family, which makes the experience quite human and different from more structured projects. I carry with me lessons on mindful eating, simplicity, and also about my own limits. I am grateful for the exchange and wish the project great success.

My experience at the project was great, Yasmin was very thoughtful, going through the tasks with detail and was genuinely interested in what I wanted to improve on. I got to learn about tocal plants and foods, new recipies for healthy meals, and also got to know the local culture and other projects. I recommend it 100%!! I felt like home and we had a great vibe with all the other volunteers.

I had a great experience at the project. Denise has deep knowledge of local plant based cooking, and I learned a lot from her approach to food and daily life. During my stay, I learned about centropic agriculture, helped with garden chores, and supported with social media. I appreciated the variety of tasks, which kept each day engaging and balanced. The space is beautiful, located in a forested area of Alter Do Chão, which creates a real opportunity to slow down, disconnect from distractions, and truly immerse yourself in nature. It's a special place created with a lot of love and care.

We spent two incredible weeks at the project, helping in the garden and in the kitchen. Denise's passion for the garden, syntropic agriculture, regenerative food, and slow food is contagious! We left this experience with much gratitude and insights about the Amazon, its fruits and its animals. Denise shared delicious lunches with us, each recipe more delicious than the last. A tip: we rented bicycles to get around (Alter do Chão and the nearest beach are at least a 30-minute walk away), which helped a lot. Thank you for everything, Denise!
