Tsiímino'ob Santuario

Hello, wandering souls.

For about four and a half years, life has led us to Homún, a place where the ancestral spirit of the Mayan people still breathes. Here, we share our days with our companions on this journey: dogs, cats, and horses; silent guardians of this natural Sanctuary, where we intend to give back to the horses that live here a small part of what this species has given to humanity through work, effort, and unconditional love.

You will love being in contact with vibrant nature. Immersed in the jungle.

Our intention is to give life to a community, a space where every talent, every project, and every expression of the heart will be received with gratitude, whether it’s art, painting, handicrafts, crafts, creation or any other gift you carry within, your light, has a place here.

In this place we live in harmony with nature. There is no electricity; it is the sun that powers our lamps, our tools, and sometimes even our spirits.

The water we bathe in comes directly from the well, a sacred reminder of the deep bond between humankind and the Earth.

This is not your average volunteer experience: it’s an immersion into the beating heart of Mayan culture. Here you can learn about ancestral medicine, work with medicinal plants and flowers, and receive all that they choose to share with you. Homún is a sacred territory, steeped in history, shamanic memory, and ancient wisdom.

We offer equine-assisted therapies — horses being majestic beings that read the soul — such as Family Constellations and Systemic Coaching, guided by both heaven and earth. If you're interested in delving deeper into their world and learning more about this wild species in its natural habitat, we recommend staying at least three weeks, during which you'll have the opportunity to forge an indissoluble bond, although the invitation is open to stay from one week and afterwards you can decide whether to stay a little longer. You'll always be welcome.

This is a space for reconnection, an inner realm where you find yourself.
Homún is also the heart of the cenotes in Mexico; after work, you can let yourself be drawn to its deep waters, steeped in mystery and history. And if movement invites you to other paths, Mérida is just an hour away.

For us, the most important thing is that you feel good, free, and at peace. That you feel at home.

We share meals, but the kitchen is completely at your disposal if you wish to prepare your own food; here nothing is rigid, for the contrary, we want you to enjoy to the fullest and build a lasting bond. Each person walks at their own pace, guided by what the earth, the sky, and the heart whisper to them.

We would love to meet you and forge that genuine connection where both of us always long to see each other again.

Basic internet is available, but enough to have a good time and thrive in a rustic and wildly beautiful environment :)

We recommend you bring:

Insect repellent
Sunscreen
Rain boots
Comfortable and cool clothing
Closed-toe shoes
Lots of LOVE

Usually several people work at the sanctuary per day. Each one in their different tasks, all related to the well-being of the horses.

Volunteer work is work that arises from love, and they always have a special place; each one receives affection, respect, and good treatment. We believe that when a person puts their knowledge and effort to the service of others, they gain a very important space and leave a mark wherever they go.

You will have 2 days off per week. The work schedule is in the mornings preferably, but not exclusive; you can choose the time you want to contribute your knowledge and help.

You will have access to a kitchen where you can bring or cook your own food and share with others who do the same as you.

Your stay includes a tent, communal bathrooms with showers, spaces to relax and enjoy, and if you wish, a bicycle to travel to the village. We can also organize nearby excursions to explore the region, additional cost.

We would greatly appreciate your weekly contribution of 63 USD to cover food costs.

The reserve Sanctuary is for real a magical place. I came here to help, but I ended up being helped too. ❤️ Being around the horses all the time really helps you open your heart and connect with yourself. Lilian really knows how to read your soul and give you the space to open yourself, while also being a really interesting, lovely and easy-going person. And of course, the dogs and cats (and the frog) fill the house and every day with so much life and joy. In the end, this was the experience I needed, at exactly the right time and space. I'm really grateful for it. Highly recommend!!🌻

Truly, in this volunteer experience I discovered so many beautiful things, such as the honesty that can exist in a human being, the strength and good heart of Lilian, who is a great example to follow. I learned a lot from her and from nature, full of wisdom, both. A thousand thanks for everything, Lilian. I will always remember this experience fondly.

Hi Lilian, I really enjoyed the 15 days I spent there; it brought me a lot of human learning and also about how horses can teach you many things, to me, as at home. I think the experience of living in a jungle shows you that your body can adapt to any adversity; you learn that every insect has a very important role, you learn to respect them and to live healthily with them. For the new volunteers who come, you should know that you will sleep in a camping house; you will be surrounded by insects and mosquitoes and hear how life is at night in the jungle. It's extraordinary.

I actually had a good time at first, until things changed. I came ready to help and support the project, but eventually felt uncomfortable and unsupported. I was bitten by a horse, had unexpected changes to sleeping arrangements, and felt my safety concerns were dismissed. I also believe personal and financial information should remain private. I appreciate what I learned, but ultimately this placement wasn't the right fit for me.

My experience at Tsiiminoob was wonderful. We had many great conversations and I learned so much about plant medicine among many other things. Although the main focus is on the horses, I had the pleasure of caring for her 4 lovely dogs while I was there. Lilian is the kind of person who meets you where you're at, without any judgement, and appreciates and encourages you to do things around the reserve that you are interested in. The love she has for all beings has inspired me greatly.
