The Experience

We have an old farm in the woods by the fjords in Western Norway where we like to invite people to come and visit us. We have concerts, cafe, camps, yoga and much more! We have started the job with restoring the old buildings on the farm, but need more help with that. So if you have any carpenter-skills, that's awesome! But there is also many other things you can help us with. Make food if you like that, paint, mold the gras,. The list is long!

I volunteered with Hilde for about two weeks time, and enjoyed every moment! From the moment I met Hilde, I felt right and home and she was kind every moment. Work consisted of raking grass, painting, building furniture and any other general yardwork/ small cleaning tasks. While the work sometimes was physically taxing, Hilde was always off working just as- if not harder. During my stay I had little to no cell service, which I found very refreshing, but do be prepared for solitude! Aside from that, be sure to have the correct attire and expect there to be a lot of bugs too :)

The comfortable, warm and waterproof clothing and boots are the key point to feel good while working. It is more a place where you work alone or with volunteers and you do not meet many other people. There are many various tasks you can do starting with Sunday caffeteria or getting rid off bushes. I reccomend this place when you are looking for a calm, but not always easy lifestyle.

I am so grateful to be able to stay at such a beautiful place where I could do fishing, hiking and swimming, especially do yoga every morning withe the view of Fjord!!! Be prepared for some rain and cold weather (+bugs) haha. Hilde and everyone I met throughout my stay have left such a big impact on me and made this experience so memorable. The tasks will probably vary, but for me, I mainly did gardening and maintenance on the hike to the farm and I never found myself having to overwork.

I am very greatful to have stayed at the beautiful the farm. It's so nice being so close to the Fjord and the views are incredible. Hilde and Antonio were very kind and welcoming and made the whole experience really enjoyable. My jobs included building a terrace, cleaning an old barn and gathering wood as well as general helping out, all of which was really fun. There is so much to do and explore in nature at and around the farm and it is definitely worth spending time here if you are lucky enough. I couldn't recommend it highly enough to anyone who enjoys being outside.

I really enjoyed my time on the farm! I spent about two and a half weeks there. During that time, some of my chores included collecting and stacking wood, moving lumber across the fjord, cleaning out an old barn, and fixing the pier and deck. I also had ample time to explore the peninsula and use the bike to ride into town. The woods are quite mossy and the view of the fjord is right out of a fairytale. Hilde and her family are so nice and welcoming; I felt quite safe and right at home. I would love to come back and visit again—thank you for such a great time!
