Program Details

Note: I am prioritising longer stays for dates more than a month in the future.

This is a relaxed exchange where we match projects to the traveller’s interests rather than expecting one fixed role.

The main tasks are light outdoor jobs such as mowing with our very easy electric mower (push-button start, self-propelled) and simple outdoor painting like fences or decking and walking our dog around our neighbourhood. We provide all equipment and beginners are welcome.

Beyond that we keep things flexible. Some travellers enjoy organising spaces, cooking, gardening, practical projects around the property or walking the dog. If you have experience with tools such as line trimmers, hedge trimmers or chainsaws, we’re happy to include those too — but only if you’re keen.

We usually ask for about 3-4 hours per day, often in a block such as 9–1 or 3–7, with two days off each week. If weather or schedules change, we simply adjust the plan and you still get your time off. Sometimes this means no work on a day because not weather permitting.

You’ll stay in your own caravan with a private bathroom, kitchenette and large outdoor room including kitchenette, lounge and dining space, giving you independence while still being close to the house.

Our home is in Cowes on Phillip Island, within walking distance of town and the bay beach, and many travellers explore further by bike. We give a short orientation drive and map when you arrive and we always take travellers to the Penguin Parade. While we’re not a taxi service, we’re happy to help coordinate lifts to places like Rhyll or Forrest Caves when plans fit around family schedules.

A stay of around two weeks works well. This exchange suits independent travellers who enjoy practical projects and exploring the area.

Activities & Shift

Light outdoor projects such as mowing with our easy electric mower and occasional outdoor painting (fences, posts or decking). Other tasks may include organising spaces, small practical projects around the property, or walking the dog depending on your interests.

Around 4 hours per day, usually scheduled in a block such as 9am–1pm or 3pm–7pm, with two full days off each week. If weather or schedules change, we simply adjust the plan. Schedules will also depend on the time of year as in winter it is dark by 5.30pm, where as in summer sunset is after 9pm.

Rules

This is a family home stay, so we ask travellers to be respectful of the household and shared spaces.

Please keep noise to a reasonable level and respect quiet times in the home.

No smoking, vaping or recreational drugs on the property.

No drunkeness or disruptive behaviour.

No visitors, except other local Worldpackers staying on Phillip Island. There are only a few hosts on the island and we all know each other well.

Please keep your accommodation and shared areas clean and tidy, and leave the space at least as clean as you found it.

We value travellers who are considerate, responsible and comfortable living in a home environment.
