The Experience

Many girls in rural village areas of Gomba district miss school during their monthly periods and stay home for a week until that period is over. This is due to shame because they lack proper materials to use. It affects their studies so much because they miss school during the academic term. So we call upon volunteers who can donate sanitary materials for these girls or promote a fundraising campaign to support these girls with necessities.

We volunteered with Samuel and the school charity for 3 weeks and loved every minute of it, we truly connected with locals and the children, and felt a part of the community we stayed in. Samuel and his lovely family couldn't have been more welcoming to us, the food was amazing and authentic, and the guest house we stayed in was nice.

After my time here in Kanoni the school, I would really recommend this experience to people who are looking for a quiet rural town, to help those children who need it the most. Samuel and his family are warm and welcoming and help with anything you may need, they made our time here that bit extra special. If you are thinking of applying to this programme, from personal experience I would recommend highly.
