I had a fantastic month at Woodland Escapes and would highly recommend it. Penny is a brilliant host who always stuck to the agreed hours and created a welcoming atmosphere. I helped build pathways and steps, carried out grounds maintenance including strimming, pruning, weeding and tree work, plus housekeeping in the lodges. Dom was always happy to teach and have a laugh. The scenery is stunning, the accommodation and food were great, and it was an unforgettable experience. Just be prepared for a mix of light and physical work. Would recommend to anyone - and would return for sure!

Work can be very chill, it depends the tasks.
Each volunteer has a day cooking dinner so you always gonna have something different which is amazing. The property is beautiful and if you are looking for a place to relax and disconnect is the right place.
Also the accommodations are great and comfy.

It's important to mention: the room didn't have a door, only a curtain, and that bothered me a little because it wasn't mentioned on the platform, so it wasn't a private room.
For personal reasons, I had to leave early and only stayed 3 days. The house and everything around it, the garden and the location, were wonderfully comfortable, peaceful, and beautiful. However, I must mention that it was a bit messy (the house itself) and there wasn't a cleaning to-do list to help keep it more organized. The other volunteers were always very friendly. But the experience was worthwhile.

I was surprised to read this review from Makelly 10 years hosting I have never received less than 5 stars workaway/Helpex. The room is private. It is actually 2 rooms. It has a door with a curtain only on the bedroom section. Other rooms were available had she mentioned that this one was not appropriate for her needs. I employ an excellent cleaner for the house which was spotless & tidy when I left for a weekend away. Makelly and fellow volunteers would be responsible for any subsequent mess.
