A peaceful home near Ivrea for nature lovers and slow travel 👣🐦
The experience
We live in a quiet, renovated house near Ivrea, close to the historical Via Francigena. We are looking for help with simple daily tasks like gardening, keeping the space tidy, and welcoming slow travellers. We currently have two dogs, and in the near future, we hope to host other animals too, such as donkeys and chickens, mostly as companions. If you enjoy silence, nature, and a simple lifestyle, you will feel at home here.

Program Details
We are a couple, 30 and 39, who recently bought this house and are slowly renovating it while managing a small organic garden. Our goal is to live with as much respect as possible for nature and all living beings, while sharing our space with international guests, family, and friends.
Our home is open to slow travellers and people who need a slower rhythm for a while. You will be part of our daily life and help us improve this shared environment. Whether you are a backpacker, cyclist, hiker, or digital nomad looking for a quiet and rustic base, you are welcome to join our easy-going lifestyle.
We currently have two dogs 🐕
We are also working on creating a safe space for chickens in the future, and maybe other animals in need of shelter (donkeys, goats, ducks etc.).
Our project is located in a quiet valley, perfect for those who enjoy nature sounds and countryside life. We do our best to protect biodiversity and move towards more self-sufficiency, even though we are not fully there yet. We also hope to create a welcoming stop for people passing through the historical trails of Northern Italy. ✨
We welcome helpers and volunteers mostly from spring to autumn. In winter, we may consider hosting on a case-by-case basis.

Activities & Shift
We offer a flexible exchange: around 2–3 hours of help per day, depending on everyone’s needs and on what is happening at the house. The activities are usually simple, mostly around the house, garden, and shared spaces.
Possible activities include:
Gardening: sowing, watering, weeding, and helping with our organic vegetable patch.
Hospitality: welcoming pilgrims from the Via Francigena, hikers, cyclists, and slow travellers. We often share dinner with them and enjoy creating a warm atmosphere.
Household help: helping in the kitchen, preparing simple vegetarian/vegan meals, and keeping shared spaces clean and tidy.
Maintenance: stacking wood, building fences or paths, and helping with small renovation tasks in the cottage, garden, or stables.
Repairs and practical skills: if you have skills with bicycles, simple carpentry, DIY, or small repairs, your help is very welcome.
Animals: occasionally helping with our dogs and, in the future, possibly with other animals.
Since we also work online and have our own daily rhythm, we appreciate volunteers who are independent, responsible, and proactive. At the same time, we want the exchange to feel relaxed and enjoyable. You’ll still have plenty of free time to explore the lakes, go for walks, discover the area, or simply relax in the garden with a book.
IMPORTANT - As we live in a rural area, being close to nature also means sharing the space with local wildlife and small creatures such as mosquitoes, mice, lizards, spiders, and occasionally snakes. They are part of the local ecosystem, and we try to respect their presence. For this reason, our place is best suited to people who are comfortable with countryside life and are not looking for urban comfort or luxury."},
Rules
We prefer non-smokers, as our home is a smoke-free environment. 🚭 Smoking is only possible outside, away from the house and shared spaces.
We can only offer vegetarian food here. However, you are welcome to buy, cook, and eat meat if you wish.
Respect for the house, our two sweet dogs, nature, and the other people temporarily living here is very important to us.
We value kindness, politeness, open communication, and keeping shared spaces clean and tidy.
