I had such a lovely time at Mark’s farm in Kamikawa! 🌿 It's a beautiful, rustic home tucked away in the mountains, surrounded by stunning nature, waterfalls and endless opportunities to explore. Life here is wonderfully slow and peaceful. The gardening work was super fun, and no previous experience is needed, so it's a great place to learn new things and enjoy being outdoors. The farm is an older, well-loved place, which gives it so much character and charm. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, and there's a grocery store conveniently close by. One of my favourite things w

I honestly loved this place. its surrounded by mountains, nature, so much green. its super quiet and grounding. of course the house isn't the newest and needs some love here and there but thats something i knew from the pictures and also Mark telling me in advance. If you need time off from a busy life, city hustle etc., this is the perfect place

Mark's house is a beautiful place in a beautiful part of Japan. I really loved the time I spent there, you have lots of time to do your own thing and get in touch with your creative side (especially because when I went in August it was too hot during the day to be outside). the project is lovely and it was a pleasure to learn and contribute to it. If you're looking for a place to really relax and be a part of a home that has been shaped by those living there in the past, then I would highly recommend.

Mark's house was great! Cute, quaint, beautiful, and creative home in the Japanese countryside. Beautiful area and there is even a secret swimming spot Mark will show you! The house has so much character and each volunteer leaves an imprint of their visit. 10/10 would recommend but if you come in summer months bring cool clothes and prepare for the Summer heat!! (It gets very very hot) come here if you are a free spirit, are open minded, artistic, and want to meet some other cool travelers and of course Mark. Thank you for the stay Mark!!

Staying here was really fun! Its a great place to slow down your travels and take in the Japanese country side. The people staying here were great and the work was very reasonable.

I had an unforgettable stay at Mark's place. The house itself is absolutely fascinating, filled with so many interesting collections and treasures that tell stories of their own. It's located in such a peaceful and beautiful town — the scenery honestly felt like something out of a movie, and the locals around were incredibly warm and welcoming. There's a beautiful little vegetable the project, and I found it so peaceful and healing to work in. If you're looking for a quiet escape with real character, this is the place. Highly recommend!

I really needed a break after traveling so much and Mark's house was really a breath of fresh air His house is so peaceful and inspiring at the same time I had fun helping him with the differents tasks, according to my skills, especially with some organising ahah If you want to spend some nice time in the countryside while helping create a durable place and eating vegetables from the project, then don't hesitate ! You can have an impact here

Our time at The House was absolutely amazing, we even came back to spend some more time with Mark in the beautiful countryside of Japan. If you look for a place to rest and want to learn about growing food this is the perfect place for you! Mark is an absolutely lovely host, and super fun to be around. He showed us the best places around the small town and also took us dancing. Everything is a work in process, which means the house can be a little chaotic sometimes, if you're not scared by that go for it it's really such a great place to be!

Our stay with Mark was one of the best experiences we had on our travels. He is a kind and caring person that always makes sure you feel safe and secure. We always had fun activities planned and really enjoyed the slow life on the country side. We went swimming, dancing and to the local blossom festival. We watched movies together, listened to great music and got the house going. We also came back a second time for an another week a month later. So in total 3 weeks with lots lots of fun!

It was really dirty evetywhere the sheets were not even clean. There was a mouse in the kitchen. The whole house smelled really bad and again it was a mess and dirty.

I really apologise for state of the house. I am currently caring for an elderly parent in the UK and couldn't get back as early as I wanted. I tried to have weekly chats with the volunteers who stayed and arrange tasks that way. I appreciate it wasn't exactly as expected and will try to better for the next volunteers as I am booking flights to return back to Japan.
