The experience

We are a family of 4 in our household living on our glamping farm with horses and donkeys - my husband Alan and I, our 6 year old daughter Lena and my father Dieter in his 80s.
My father needs extra assistance with someone in the house at all times so we need some cover when we are out of the house. He has professional carers coming 3 times a day to assist so it is a supervision role so we can ensure he is safe while we are working.

Program Details

My dad's essential care needs will be looked after by a professional carer 3 times a day and we also live in the house with him so it is covering the gaps when we are out of the house or busy with guests on our glamping farm. He walks with a zimmer-frame and we just need to be sure there is someone around to assist him to avoid a fall or help him make a cup of tea etc.
My dad likes to chat in English or German and is very easy to get on with.
We are a friendly easy going family who have been welcoming volunteers and people looking to improve English for over 40 years (since I was a child) so we are very used to welcoming people from all over the world. We also have volunteers and a nice team of staff on the farm you can get to know so there is a nice atmosphere here. We live in a very beautiful area, great for hiking and we can also offer some lifts for you to explore in your free time. We are 1 hour from Dublin by public transport.

Activities & Shift

we are really just looking for someone to be around the house keeping an eye that my dad is ok, help him move around if he needs assistance and make a cup of tea etc. generally helping him keep his room neat and tidy and some basic cleaning around the home would be helpful also.
A professional carer will come for breakfast, lunch and dinner and they will assist him in the morning getting up, and at night going to bed so we just need some help covering the gaps in between.
we can provide a bedroom in the house beside my dad's room and you will have a kitchenette area for yourself. We can also share some meals together if you would like.

Rules

we are really just hoping for a friendly, kind person to spend some time with my dad and for us to know he is comfortable while we are not in the house.
