Film and Karim were fantastic hosts. You get a private room with shower and fridge. The work was the hotel and reasonable and I had plenty of time to explore outside of work. Located in downtown Hatyai your surrounded by restaurants and entertainment. You will have a huge amount of options depending on how much you want to get out of your comfort zone and interact with the locals who are really nice but are used to only seeing tourists from Malaysia. There are beaches, lakes, and waterfalls in the nearby area if your interested in venturing a little out of town. Overall an excellent experience.

We really enjoyed our time in Hay Yai at the hotel with Karim & Flip, incredibly welcoming and communicative hosts. Highlight was the location and street food. They have 2 hotels 10min walk apart, we loved the location of where we stayed. The tasks were definitely work, but it made the time go quick and was not difficult, just plenty of stairs with the reception/housekeeping role. The staff at both hotels are delightful. The only surprise was the absence of a kitchen. We had a small refrigerator, they kindly got us a hot plate and basic utensils, but plan to eat out as no food is included.

I really enjoyed my volunteering experience at the hotel Hostel! The tasks were simple and the hotel to manage, which made the whole experience very pleasant. The couple that taking care of the hostel are both very kind, caring, and welcoming, and they made me feel comfortable during my stay. I also really loved my private room. It was comfortable, had air conditioning, and having a private bathroom was definitely a big plus for me! Overall, I had a lovely experience at the hotel Hostel and I'm grateful for the opportunity to volunteer there. I would definitely recommend it to other travelers.

This experience was really fun and Hat Yai (and Songkhla) were great cities to explore! Only advice I’d give to people looking at this position is learn some basic Thai beforehand

It was generally a positive experience and may be a good fit for those planning a trip to Malaysia.
However, I missed clearer adherence to agreements, respect for established rules, and a stronger spirit of volunteerism.
