What other travelers should know is that you need a driver's license and to know how to drive. To get around Iceland, volunteers can use the cars they're given. The place is 12 km from the nearest town and there's no public transportation, so it's either car or car. Without a license, I don't know what you can do. Volunteers also need to be very flexible. Sometimes they work less than 3.5 hours, sometimes just over 5 hours. In my case, I never did what was written on the job app, bar and restaurant (but it was better that way for me, because I didn't have a specific time to return to).

I had a good experience overall. The best part was definitely the close-knit group of volunteers, I made great friends, spent our evenings together, and travelled around Iceland together. It was a wonderful way to meet people from different parts of the world and share experiences. The work could be a little tiring and repetitive, but the location is fantastic and makes it easy to explore many of Iceland's highlights. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to see Iceland and meet new people. A little more engagement of host with the volunteers would have been a nice addition to the experience.

My experience at the farm was mixed. I met very beautiful people and lived wonderful moments; the car and the ATVs to which we have free access are a real plus for discovering this unreal country, with wonderful and very endearing animals at the farm... But the working hours were not always respected, I found myself working alone and more than planned several times, and a big problem with communication with the main host.

I didn't perform the job I had applied for (carpentry) but I ended up doing housekeeping.
The work was fairly disorganized, also due to the host's lack of communication, but not very demanding and often the working hours were less than planned, allowing more freedom during the day.
Another negative point is the mess and cleanliness of the house, which we tried to keep decent among us volunteers.
I did, however, appreciate the flexibility and independence in general, and the possibility of using a car with which I could visit Iceland.

My experience at the farm was certainly positive and I liked it a lot. I found a place immersed in nature with unique landscapes. The work we had to do was not excessive and fairly easy to do. We never lacked anything in terms of food or anything else; moreover, having a car at our disposal to drive around the island was a very positive thing. If I had to say something to improve, surely the communication, as there was no communication between us volunteers and the hosts, we were a bit left out, never asking if everything was okay or anything else.
