The Experience

Welcome to Per Auset, a regenerative village and cultural restoration project located on an ancient island in the Nile. We are working to restore the old houses and make the island green and lush again. The vision is to feed the entire village (over 100 people) from our garden. So a massive part of the land will be for permaculture and fruit trees. Moreover, we plan to plant more than 5000 trees in the near future.

My volunteering time at the eco village was amazing; living on a beautiful island and doing a variety of tasks that enhanced my skills and made me acquire new ones was a unique experience. Chris is strict but humanely professional; daily tasks have to be done but volunteers are given the freedom to choose when to do them according to their schedule. Meeting with locals and other fellow volunteers from around the world was very enjoyable; sitting together, sharing community tasks and stories, eating together and cooperating throughout the day, learning from each created a very positive atmosphere.
