Program Details

Join everyday life at Unico, a growing mountain village community outside Beijing, by helping cook lunch and dinner for our staff. The focus is practical, nourishing team meals and a clean, organised kitchen. We value reliable teamwork, care with ingredients and food hygiene, and the chance to share cooking skills and learn from one another.

Activities & Shift

Your main role is preparing staff lunch and dinner with our team. Tasks include agreeing simple menus, preparing ingredients, cooking meals, washing dishes, and cleaning and organising the kitchen. Coordinate quantities, ingredients and dietary needs with the team before cooking. Follow food hygiene and safe storage practices. The position remains 25 hours per week with 2 days off per week. Exact meal times and the shift schedule will be agreed with the host before confirming your stay.

Rules

We ask volunteers to arrive with curiosity, kindness and a willingness to help wherever needed.

Please communicate openly if you have any problems or questions. We value reliability, punctuality and teamwork more than previous experience.

As we're a small community, everyone helps keep shared spaces clean and treats guests, neighbours and fellow volunteers with respect.

Smoking is only allowed in designated outdoor areas. We expect responsible behaviour around alcohol while working. We also encourage everyone to explore the surrounding mountains, meet our neighbours and make the most of the cultural exchange during their stay.
