Program Details

Our social cooperative was started by an international family and is the local expression of a wider network working on sustainable development, intercultural dialogue and peace. With a glocal approach, our activities include organic and regenerative farming, zero-kilometre catering, educational and social-inclusion projects, and hospitality — including accommodation for pilgrims on the Via Francigena del Sud.
In the historic centre of Sant’Agata de’ Goti, with terraces overlooking the Valle Caudina, our community café is a simple meeting place focused on human connection. It is where stories and people from different places meet around shared tables, in a setting of historic stone and semi-wild nature.
Our hostel offers independent accommodation directly on the Via Francigena del Sud. Instead of conventional luxury, it offers a straightforward connection to the community and the slower rhythm of a medieval hilltop town. Together, the café and hostel support small-scale, responsible tourism that welcomes travellers from elsewhere while remaining rooted in the local place.

Activities & Shift

More than help, we are looking for a partnership in action and creativity. These are the main areas of activity (to be chosen based on skills, aptitudes, and desire to learn):
Main activities:
1. Eco-Farming and soil regeneration
Restoration of abandoned terraced lands (undergrowth clearing, bramble removal, dry-stone wall repair)
Soil preparation, composting, and soil enrichment
Planting and care of vegetables, aromatic herbs, and fruit trees (organic methods and permaculture principles)
Participation in community activities

2. Hospitality management and exchange programs
Welcoming and orienting new volunteers
Cleaning and tidying common spaces
Support in meal preparation

3. Communication and promotion
Support in managing social media and content
Photography and storytelling of the project
Organisation of events and promotion of responsible tourism

4. Maintenance and creative projects
Minor repairs, painting, and space maintenance
Creative and digital contributions based on the volunteer's skills

Rules

We are looking for partners more than helpers — proactive and curious people who want to take part, contribute, and share the values of this project. If you are looking for a fixed role to fill, this may not be the right place. If you are looking for a project to commit to and help shape, you are welcome here.
What we look for:

Curiosity and willingness to learn
Adaptability and flexibility
Availability for practical and manual tasks
Ability to work independently after initial guidance
Reliability and respect for commitments

Farming involves moderate physical effort. We also welcome older adults and people with disabilities who can contribute in other areas of the project.
We particularly value intergenerational and intercultural exchange.
