Program Details

Our rainforest photography volunteer will spend scheduled days at the rainforest working alongside our tour team and capturing the experience of multiple groups throughout the day.

Your main focus will be photographing and filming guests as they explore the rainforest, swim, laugh, and enjoy their adventure. We want natural, candid moments as well as fun group photos and videos that guests can look back on after their trip.

Having a dedicated photographer allows our tour guides to focus fully on guiding, interacting with guests, and keeping everyone safe while you focus on capturing the memories.

This is an active, outdoor role, so you should be comfortable spending several hours in a rainforest environment, being around water, moving between locations, interacting with guests, and working with different tour groups.

You'll also help us capture photos and short form video content that can be used to showcase our rainforest experiences on social media.

We're looking for someone creative, outgoing, reliable, and comfortable photographing people. You don't need to be a professional photographer, but you should have a good eye for capturing fun, authentic moments and be excited to improve your photography and content creation skills while experiencing Puerto Rico.

You'll receive the same volunteer benefits provided to our other Worldpackers volunteers, including volunteer housing, while gaining hands on experience in tourism, adventure photography, and content creation in Puerto Rico.

Activities & Shift

On scheduled workdays, you'll travel with our team to the rainforest and be stationed there throughout your shift, capturing photos and videos as our different tour groups move through the experience.

Because we may have several tours running throughout the day, you'll work with multiple groups and tour guides rather than being assigned to just one tour.

Daily activities may include:

- Photographing guests at key locations throughout the rainforest experience
- Capturing candid moments, group photos, action shots, swimming, waterfalls, and other memorable moments
- Taking short-form vertical videos for social media
- Welcoming and interacting with different groups as they arrive
- Helping guests feel comfortable and have fun in front of the camera
- Coordinating with tour guides as groups move through the rainforest
- Organizing and sharing the photos and videos captured during your shift
- Creating engaging content that showcases the rainforest experience

This is an active outdoor role. You should be comfortable spending several hours in a rainforest environment, being around water, walking on natural terrain, and working outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Tour schedules vary from day to day depending on bookings and weather, so flexibility is important. Your specific work schedule will be coordinated with our team.

Rules

Rules & Expectations

We want this to be a fun, creative experience, but reliability, communication, and professionalism are important.

- Be on time and ready for your scheduled shifts. Our tours run on a schedule, so please communicate as early as possible if you're sick, running late, or unable to work.
- Follow the instructions of our tour guides and team while in the rainforest. Guest safety always comes first.
- Be friendly, respectful, and professional when interacting with guests, guides, staff, and other volunteers.
- Stay focused on photography and content creation while tour guides focus on leading and safely managing their groups.
- Respect guest privacy and personal boundaries. Never pressure someone to be photographed or recorded if they are uncomfortable.
- Take care of any equipment or supplies provided to you and keep photos and videos organized.
- Be prepared for changing weather, water, mud, uneven terrain, and other conditions that come with working outdoors in Puerto Rico.
- Be flexible. Tour volume, schedules, group sizes, and daily needs may change depending on bookings and weather.
- Respect the volunteer housing, shared spaces, other volunteers belongings, and our community guidelines.
- Communicate openly with our team. If you have a concern, question, or problem, please bring it to us so we can address it.

Most importantly, come ready to contribute, learn, be part of the team, and help us create a great experience for our guests.
