Laurine and Syed are 10/10 hosts—friendly, generous, and so welcoming. They provide an apartment for volunteers, with filtered water, a ceiling fan that keeps the space cool, and even a pool! The work is fun and easy. I found the bottling, labelling and stamping to be quite relaxing and very rewarding as the host tastes amazing! Syed and Laurine introduced us to their friends, who are also lovely. They invited us along to open mic music nights and many fun activities around the island. They showed us the best food places and taught us about Malay culture& history. I 100% recommend!

This is an incredible experience! It was the best worldpacker experience so far! Learning how to make the host from scratch was so cool, especially getting to try all the local flavors and take home a scoby. Laurine and Syed are so kind, so many fun lunches out trying local foods, even a birthday boat trip. The accommodation is the best! Full kitchen, bathroom and a pool! You should definitely come to Langkawi! island vibes ✨🏝️ 🌺 🌊 already missing it!

I had a great time with Laurine&Syed doing the host. It was great to learn and good work hs, easy tasks and it's possible to explore the beautiful island. The communication was very clear, and they also invited us to hang out with them and their cool friends. But, if you're a low budget traveller, this might not be a good option. You'll need a bike / grab. If you plan to go walking, the distance is around 1h. I had lucky, cuz we managed some rides from half the way. The house is really cozy, but our mobile network doesn't work properly there, so you'll need to go to a cafe w/ WiFi.

Volunteering at the host was a truly rewarding experience. I am grateful for everything I learned during my stay and for the opportunity to contribute while immersing myself in a new environment. The experience was enriching, and I genuinely enjoyed the balance between work, learning, and cultural exchange. I especially appreciated the meaningful conversations, the welcoming atmosphere, and the chance to connect with people from different backgrounds. Every moment added something valuable to my journey.

Planned to stay two weeks, ended up staying three. Laurine and Syed were very welcoming hosts. We were instructed in a patient, loving, and clear way during the production process. Over the course of the last three weeks, we brewed and bottled very tasty the host. They gave us all the time and space to explore the island, providing really good recommendations. They even took us for a little tour of Pulau Tuba, a wonderful island just south of Langkawi. I can fully recommend this volunteering, especially as a chance to slow down, kick back, and enjoy.

I had a great time working at the host place. The work was relatively easy and the hours were very manageable! It was interesting to learn about how to make the host and you could see the care that went into making it ! Outside of the host making, Laurie and Syed were very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed getting to see a part of their life outside of the business and exploring parts of the island. Thank you ! :)

Volunteering at a the home in Langkawi was super chill. We worked just 2–3 hours a day, helping out and learning how the home is made, and had the rest of the day free to explore the island. Syed and Laurine made it even better with small parties and pop-up events (sometimes cut short by rain, but still fun). Unlimited the home was a huge perk, and we actually learned the full process too. Honestly, it didn't feel like work at all—just a great vibe overall.
