This was my first volunteer experience and i really enjoyed everything during my stay. The host and chef was really nice and welcoming people, and I have my own room which was really comfortable. Also they provide every meal from the restaurant, you can use everything in the kitchen and can prepare yourself a good meal. Also during my stay there were other 3 volunteers also the kitchen was not too busy and chill so we scheduled our extra day off which i could get a chance to visit another cities. For the job it was like a regular restaurant prepare, clean, serve but more calm and chill.

Another S-ranked stay. Davide is very knowledgeable on cooking and has a fine balance of appreciating your work and not letting you take on too much of the kitchen stress. Work is varied from the school preparation, plating, welcoming guests, taking orders, plating and of course cleaning too. You'll get hands on experience in all aspects of running Simones Kitchen. I thoroughly enjoyed eating the leftover the school, the accommodation is very nice and the hosts are welcoming too. I definitely will be back, thank you for having me :).

Overall, it was a great experience. From the moment you arrive, you notice the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Both the chef, Davide, and the manager, Alistar, have been open and welcoming. The workload is reasonable, and the best part is that you can use the kitchen's fresh, organic ingredients. The room is shared with only one other volunteer, but you'll feel right at home, as it even includes a bathroom and a comfortable, spacious bed. A big thank you to Ruth for making this possible!

The experience at the school was very good. I didn't have any previous experience working as a waiter, and you don't actually need it. The tasks were very easy: serving customers, cleaning, and doing some the school preparation. A special mention to Davide (the chef), who always helped me with the tasks and for his delicious the school. You can save a lot of money eating at the restaurant (you can cook there and take ingredients for your meals). Antwerp has good train connections to visit different cities. If you are a hard-working, tidy, and clean person, I definitely recommend this experience! :)

The school has a really special vibe — the concept actually lives in the day-to-day, and everyone there genuinely believes in it. The team is warm, funny, and welcoming, so the days feel light and easy. Menus change every month with a new cuisine, which makes prep interesting, and you get real hands-on time both in the kitchen and with customers, helping to share the concept. Hours are always respected, beginners are totally welcome, and if you're curious about cooking or baking you're encouraged to experiment on your own too.

I had a really great experience volunteering at the school. It's an ideal place to learn basic kitchen skills and get a first approach to vegan the school, even if you don't have previous experience. The chefs are very kind, patient, and always willing to help and explain things. Ruth is part of the staff and she is always available for anything you need. She is super kind, gentle, and makes you feel comfortable from day one. The atmosphere with the other volunteers is incredible, everyone is friendly and easygoing, which makes the work enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this experience.

Antwerp is a beautiful city and very well connected, so I could visit other places in my days off or even just in the morning before the evening shift.

The restaurant proposes a 4 course menu that changes every 3 weeks, so I got to try two different ones in the month I was there. Both were very interesting and different from what I'm used to. I got to practice basic cooking skills and also waitressing, which I had never done. The chefs, the other volunteers and the customers were always very nice and encouraging. I really enjoyed my time here, would recommend!

I had a great experience at the school! The room was spacious and comfortable, and I made wonderful friends with the other volunteers. The owner was a very helpful and supportive host, always ready to assist whenever anything came up. I also appreciated the generous schedule: having an extra free day during the week gave us plenty of time to explore the city. The only drawback during my stay was an issue with mice around the kitchen and lower floor. We brought it to the staff's attention and they took action to address it. By the time my month ended the situation was better.

Davide replied

Thank you Elisa, and thank you for raising the mice with us at the time rather than only here — that is exactly what we ask people to do. You were right to. We have since brought in professional pest control so it is dealt with properly rather than patched over. It was a pleasure having you in the kitchen, and we are glad the room and the schedule worked well for you.

My stay in the school was really good, the staff is super nice and attentive, mostly the owner Alistair. Alistair helped a lot when problems would come up, and the volunteers were his priority when making decisions, he has a proyect called Know thyself that consists on getting to know the people on your team to be able to understand why they act the way they do and if your personalities are compatible. The proyect itself is made into a website that helps you discover yourself better through assessments. The rooms for the volunteers are ok, they have the basic stuff. Very nice city :)

I was a volunteer here for a month in April 2026 during my gap year, and overall it was a really positive experience. the school was great and the room provided was comfortable and much nicer than i expected. i did run into a few issues during my stay, but Alistair, the owner, was incredibly kind and solved everything right away, and things went even better than before. He is genuinely a great person. I really enjoyed working with him because it was clear that he cared about everything and truly wanted us to grow, both in our work and as people. I admire him sm!
