I had a great volunteering experience at this hostel. I helped with cleaning, preparing rooms for guests, and taking care of the plants. The tasks were clear and well organized. Diego is a kind and attentive host who creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I also loved the two adorable kittens Lemon and Mandarin, who make the hostel even more special. I really enjoyed my time here and would recommend this place to other volunteers. I already miss you the hostel, Diego, Cata, Rafael, Valentina, Lemon and Mandarin ❤️

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your beautiful words. Having you as a volunteer was truly special. Your dedication, kindness, and positive energy made a real difference in the daily life of the hostel. More than the tasks you helped with, it was your presence and warmth that meant the most. We miss u! Knowing that you felt at home here is everything to us. Thank you for being part of Lighthouse — and for loving Lemon and Mandarin as much as we do. You’ll always have a home here. ❤️

I had a really good experience at this hostel in Buenos Aires! I met so many amazing people and the team was really cool and welcoming. A special thank you to Diego, the owner, for having me! The work is honestly not very difficult, but you need to be able to work independently, take initiative, and see what needs to be done without always waiting for someone to tell you what to do. Overall, it was a great experience and I\'m really grateful for the people I met there! ❤️

I was supposed to stay for a month but left after two days. Everything was super unorganized and I can't work like that. There was no real structure, which might work for other people but personally I expect a host to explain things in detail and make sure I know what to do. It seemed to me that he didn't really care and I felt left alone. Wifi was very bad, can't really use it. There are two small cats who I found to be more annoying than cute - especially when cleaning. They also create problems always running into the rooms and one of them shat on a bed. I didn't feel comfortable overall.

The hostel was an experience like no other. I met incredible people, I improved my English and you learn to make do with what you have.
The team was always kind and open, willing to help with everything they can.
At first it can be a bit confusing, given that there is no clear direction of what to do at every moment.
But if you are someone proactive, you will get used to it quickly and you will treat the hostel as if it were your home.
P.S.: Whoever you are, take care of Mandarina, it is too cute and dumb for this world.
Limon will be fine, it is smarter and wilder.

Incredible place! It was a pleasure staying at Lighthouse as a volunteer; the place has a good location so it's possible to explore the whole city on foot. The hostel has good facilities with everything a backpacker needs, plus two cats that bring joy to all volunteers and guests. The place receives tourists from all over the world, so it's ideal for exchanging experiences and practicing languages. The activities are light and the schedules are kept. I leave happy to have enjoyed every day I stayed in this wonderful place, thank you Lighthouse!

A lovely experience, the volunteers supported each other at all times, the area is unbeatable, close to all the city's tourist attractions. The host was flexible with our schedules. The hostel has expanded its spaces, as we are finishing its restoration. We have two adorable kittens that are the heart of the house. It was very rewarding to share a multicultural exchange with the guests who arrived during this time, and with whom we had a very healthy coexistence.

Working with you was a pleasure from day one. Your initiative, reliability and positive attitude made a real impact on Lighthouse during a crucial stage of the project. No task was ever too small or too difficult—you were always ready to help, often going beyond what was expected. Your skills, kindness and team spirit brought warmth and motivation to everyone around you. We’re incredibly grateful for everything you contributed. Lighthouse wouldn’t be the same without your help!

There is no host; it is run by volunteers. From WhatsApp everything is organized; there is no staff hired because the hostel is new, but Diego, who is the owner, only stops by for 5 minutes to grab something and leaves; on day 10 he finally came to greet me. He isn't interested in the volunteers. There was a gas leak and he minimized the situation, assuming that we are all there with total availability, even free hours to monitor the hostel. He isn’t friendly by message; he treated us as if we owed him something. He takes advantage of the volunteers' goodwill and doesn't like listening to anyone.

What a pity your total lack of empathy. You're just starting out in this and it's evident that you haven't understood anything about the idiosyncrasies of volunteering and life in hospitality. I have twenty years of experience in this. When you have personal matters to attend to, you prioritize time and needs when there are imponderables. Good luck with your studies; I hope somewhere else they also adapt the schedules, especially for your classes. I have a team that values and loves my place, and that's why they come for days and stay for months :)
