some("Working at Weingut Ardesia was a fantastic experience! It was hard work but very rewarding at the end of the day getting to know and spend time with the other workers and Melanie and Lorenzo’s lovely family. Expect to work closer to 6-8 hours a day, but the scenery and comaraderie makes it well worth it. Bacharach is a beautiful town, and we even got to have a wine tasting at the end of our stay to try the various wines they have been working on. Would definitely recommend.")
Expect to work hard and enjoy good company. The days were longer than expected but always ended with everyone hanging out around the fire or kitchen and talking for hours. Bacharach is a beautiful area in Germany and definitely worth a visit. While picking grapes may not be for me, I still had a really good experience at Weingut Ardesia. The best part was when all of the workers were treated to a wine tasting in the cellar. The host did an amazing job with making this last night something special.
I'm so thankful Melanie received me even though I was just staying for a few days. Is an stunning place, I'm sad I didn't stay longer to get to know the town better. Picking in the vineyard is a hard work and most of the time you will work a little bit longer, but is so gratifying and the view is breathtaking. You learn a lot about wine and the whole process. The other volunteers and people working there are really nice and made me feel like home. The whole place is huge and the volunteers apartment is beautiful, I liked my room a lot. Thanks for everything! I'd love to go back!
I really felt at home here: Melanie was always very nice and helpful, I fell in love with her 2 little boys and also with the town and the wonderful Rhine surroundings. You're expected to be a helpful member of the family, taking care of the kids sometimes and helping in the kitchen. But also she makes sure you have all you need. I had higher expectations about learning, but I think there were good reasons for that: I was there for only 2 weeks, working by myself and Melanie was alone taking care of everything because her husband was traveling. Hopefully I can come back for grape picking! :D
I really enjoyed my stay with Melanie & her family. I was there for 5 weeks taking care of the kids, specially of the baby. And cleaning the house as well. I combined my stay taking a German course which we had previosuly agreed and they were very flexible and helpful with that. I think this combination was the best.
The house is very nice and comfortable & the area where they live is amazing. If you want to disconnect & be in nature, this is your place. But also take into account what living with another family & with kids means. With all its good and less good things. Thanks for everything!
We are in the most romantic area on the Middelrhine with a lot of Castels and a lot to see. Your winery is still very small but we like to houst people and we like to show you in the different times of the year what you need to do to get a perfect wine. Only to now the picking is not always at the same days we starting around 25 of September until the End of October but we do not pick the complete period... this depends on the weather.About the host
