This was my first volunteering experience and it was truly incredible. I stayed in Santa Marianita at Oswaldo's hostel for 24 days, collaborating with Marcela on the English classes. They are both wonderful people who made this adventure absolutely unforgettable. The children at La Travesía School are so friendly, kind and genuine. They will always remain in my heart, and being able to teach them is something I will carry with me forever. During free time, there are so many activities to enjoy. I chose kitesurfing. I will always carry this place in my heart and hope to come back soon.

I have very mixed feelings about my stay here. on arrival you read a long document with rules, where it states that volunteering is just another way to pay for your stay and that everybody, no matter what type of payment they use, shall be treated equally during their stay. it did not feel that way. all guests rooms had AC and en suite bathrooms, while mine was upstairs, exposed to the sun with only a fan. it was also dirty (hair, dirt, trash in the shelves) when i arrived, despite no one else staying in it. the shared bathroom was downstairs in the common area with little privacy. also dirty.

Sure. Here is a suitable summary for a Worldpackers reply:

Volunteer rooms are shared, with no air conditioning as they are naturally ventilated wooden structures. Cleanliness of shared spaces is a shared responsibility among volunteers, with cleaning tools provided. Rooms are delivered clean at check-in. We always check in with volunteers during their stay and offer support. We appreciate feedback and continue improving our experience.

This experience was enriching for us because we could apply our knowledge of the English and Spanish languages in class, as well as community care and social work. We participated in many community events, during which we learned a lot about the area and the people. We met great people during our time doing the work exchange, including Oswaldo and Marcela. They are a great host team and were extremely helpful and accommodating. They gave us an experience well beyond the bare minimum that shaped our view of what Ecuador has to offer.

Upon our arrival to Ecuador, we were welcomed by one of Oswaldo's other volunteers, Miguel, with whom we would have many great experiences with. Oswaldo was very welcoming and was a great host that took all of our accommodations into account to ensure our comfort and to make sure our experience was the best it could be. He went above and beyond with many things and we enjoyed our experience here very much. We learned a lot about the environment around Santa Marianita and got to fully immerse ourselves in the culture. At the school, the experience was very rewarding where we were able to teach

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I had the most wonderful time volunteering here. The team became my second family and the hostel really felt like a home away from home. Oswaldo makes sure that the volunteers are having fun and enjoying themselves. I was supposed to stay for 2 weeks and I ended up staying for nearly a month. I was so sad to leave and I would have stayed even longer if I could have. I have made some amazing memories in Santa Marianita as well as some friends for life. I will be back!! Muchísimooo gracias Oswaldo y Jery for making me feel so welcome ❤️❤️❤️

I had an incredible stay at the hostel, Oswaldo is an incredible guy. I really felt at home during my stay. It was an excellent opportunity to practice my Spanish. With the guests and other workers. It's a two minute walk to a very nice beach. I highly recommend staying at the hostel I would have stayed longer if I could. I hope to come back someday soon!!

I truly enjoyed my time at the hostel and even after a few days it became a home away from home. Oswaldo and the other volunteer staff were incredibly welcoming and the duties/benefits were just as described. This was a perfect opportunity to disconnect, enjoy a small beach town, practice Spanish, and immerse in the local culture! I'd do it all over again.
