The Exchange

Spend your weekdays supporting the creation of Villa Viva Backpack, connect with our guests, organize events, paint walls, create marketing campaigns or help us run our social media. You can also help us run our social programs and projects like Football 4 Wash training with pupils, campaign for the human right of water or run our Wash Bus for the homeless people in the city. Spend weekends hiking and surfing the waves of the Atlantic ocean.


Title

25 hours of help per week

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

Bartending: Make and serve drinks and help maintain the beverages inventory.


What you get

2 days off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.


Requirements

Intermediate English

Between 21 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or pairs)

Program Details

You will work 25 / 30 hours a week in different departments and shifts weekly .
We want you if you can offer one of the following
- Photography, graphic artistry
- IT and data analysis
- Motivated to run awesome events at our hostel
- 21 years and older

Things we need help with:
- Helping at reception
- Helping the house-keepers
- Bringing and keeping good and positive energy to our environment.

After the purposeful activity is done, you can spend weekends hiking Table Mountain, surfing the waves of the Atlantic ocean, or enjoying Cape Town's world-famous night life. The city is a melting pot for young people from all over the world, and you are bound to find yourself in the company of lifelong friends.


Activities & Shift

Reception duties include: Checking in guests, describing what to do in the city and all general enquiries about Cape Town and the hostel
Cafe duties include: washing dishes, preparing the breakfast buffet and general cafe duties
Bar duties include: basic bar services and creating a fun vibe - we hope you love music because we do!
Housekeeping: assisting the housekeeper, making beds and tidying rooms
Community Project: helping us run our social programs and projects like Football 4 Wash training with pupils, campaign for the human right of water or run our Wash Bus for the homeless people in the city.
