I'm truly delighted and grateful to have discovered this magnificent place, Le Jardine the guest house, and to have met Sandra and her family – which also includes six adorable goats. Sandra taught me so much in such a short time, not just about daily tasks, but she also gave me life lessons that I will always carry with me. This experience transformed my three-month trip to Japan; over these three months, thanks to this experience, I’ve come to understand so much more about myself, about Japanese culture, and about the strange and unique connection each of us has with nature and animals.

Volunteering at Le Jardín has been a mesmerizing experience; I made it to connect with nature. Onomichi is a small but beautiful town. It's a perfect place if you want to disconnect from chaos of big cities for a while. It can be a bit lonely if you're use to interact with people but Sandra and her family will definitely make you feel like home. I'm really glad I got here. Definitely, a lifelong experience.

My stay at the cafe was short but very meaningful. I am very happy to meet Sandra and her family. They are warm and very welcoming. They ensured I had all the things I need at home including food, toiletries, detergent and heating (it gets very cold at nights and early mornings.)

I tended to 4 adult goats which I would say challenging at first but you will get used to it. They are gentle and sweet and eat a lot. After few hours of walking, you may tend to other things like cleaning the yard, watering the plants, etc. I recommend everyone to try this experience. Onomichi is beautiful.

I really experienced my dream life during my stay with Sandra-I have fallen in love with Onomichi. The house was so cosy as well as the cafe and Sandra is the best and makes you feel so comfortable straight away. The work is varied and satisfying with fair hours, it was so enjoyable to work in such a beautiful place. I will definitely return and would recommend this experience to anyone. Bring warm clothes it can be quite cold in the house- maybe buy a hot water bottle (if the one I left isn't still there!) Will miss Sandra & her family, the goats, and Onomichi so much!

Sandra has a very good sense of humour and she is very fun to work with. She speaks many different languages and is very interesting person to talk with! I enjoyed working with the goats, they were very friendly and cute!! Mostly I helped feeding and taking care of the goats, but also helped out with the cafe when it opened back after the holidays! Onomichi is a beautiful area with lots of cats and cute spots so I recommend visiting Sandra's cafe it's definitely worth it!!

I've really enjoyed this month with Sandra. Work hours are always respected and different tasks are carried out, so time goes by very quickly. Also, Sandra is an amazing person and she always has something to tell; I've learned a lot from her. Onomichi is a very beautiful place, there are many incredible sites to see in the area. It's definitely worth it.

This experience was my first time as a volunteer and I am very happy to have been able to live it with Sandra and her family. Sandra is extremely kind and welcoming, we talked and laughed about many things :) The goats are very mischievous and clever, which makes them very endearing! The café is also a very nice place to work. Be prepared for winter, it's a traditional house, so you need to dress warmly (use the hot water bottle well, you'll need it). Thank you very much for this month, I'll come back to visit you before leaving France ☺️
